About the facility
Smith Village a CCRC

A trusted presence on the South Side for more than 90 years, Smith Village offers a secure, inclusive residential living experience for seniors throughout the Chicago area. This not-for-profit community empowers seniors through the well-managed endowment called Emilie’s Fund, offering peace of mind and financial security to residents and families. Located in the Beverly neighborhood and just southwest of downtown Chicago, the community allows residents to enjoy the village’s small-town charm, local parks, restaurants, shopping options, and easy access to big-city amenities.

The campus offers a continuum of care services including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation services. Whether it’s help with things like personal care, dressing, medication management, or specialized memory care services, the dedicated caregivers deliver individualized care services with the utmost respect. Seniors can feel secure knowing they are receiving the highest quality of care services and programming thanks to the community’s CARF accreditation status.

Nice looking place!
I toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. The facility was well kept and clean, and all of the staff I met seemed friendly and professional. The only thing I didn't like here is that they didn't seem to have as many activities as some other locations I visited. We ended up selecting another community, but this is somewhere I would have considered as an option for my loved one.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the Illinois regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about Illinois regulations for Assisted Living.
