We had a really nice tour experience with Northstar Place, the facility is beautiful and the staff were so friendly. At the time because of covid, we would not have been able to visit him as often here as another place we were looking at. It is totally understandable, but we just did not want to be limited. It was also a little more expensive than the other place as well.

Don't even put your dog there. Our mother was there for a 30 day respite stay, and we took her out after a week because they just didn't do what we asked them to do or what we expected them to do for what we paid. All of their patients just languished in front of the TV all day. There were no activities. Our mom fell twice, and we were never able to get any explanation as to how she fell. Before placing her there, we had counted all of her medication. When we took her out, we determined that she got on average only 3-4 days of all of her medications. The only one she got consistently was her sleep aid. She was supposed to get 3 pain pills for day and got 4 for the whole week. We had enough Tylenol for 6 per day, and she got 10 the whole week. Aside from a few really good staff members, they just do not care. And they are seriously understaffed.

The Life Enrichment director has done an excellent job with providing fun-field activities for all of the residents at NorthStar. Her passion for involving the residents with fun and rewarding activities are enriching their lives and are memorable. Her love for all is reflected with encouraging comments, her smile and the joy she displays working with each individual resident.
We did a virtual tour with Northstar Place because of covid. The location was great and the facility was very nice. The staff members were all friendly, so it was comparable to the one we chose. I just knew people at the other location we were looking at so we went with that one.
They tried to take my dads money from him. The day before he moved in, the doctors told us due to his condition it would not be a good idea and they could not give us the money back until recently. I think they care more about the money than the actual residents well being. I would not recommend them to anybody looking.
The cleanliness of the community has been great, and the care services have been really good. The activities are still limited due to the restrictions, and we do think the value is very good. The only negative we have experienced is with the communication, sometimes it is hard to get a hold of someone. We do know covid has impacted this but sometimes our calls get discounted or hung up on. However with that being said we still have had really amazing positive experiences, the employees have gone out of their way to assist us whenever needed.
The staff was been very helpful and educated us on the community. communication between the staff and the family has been very good. They have kept us well informed. I would recommend this community to others.
At the time we chose Northstar Place because they allowed him to be in a semi private room for a great price and they were one of the only facilities accepting new residents during covid. They lacked with communication to the families. It was difficult to get in touch with them on certain things and they did not really follow up well to concerns that we showed at times. If you are looking for a place that will communicate well and you have a lot of questions, I would say to be aware before you choose Northstar Place.
Current health guidelines are not mentally or emotionally good for the residence. The corporate guidelines are very strict. Communication was good between the staff and the family. I wouldn't recommend placing a loved one in a community until after covid due to the guidelines.
They are really are not open to feedback. I have had a few issues that we have discussed and it has taken 4 months for any progress on these issues. Communication is good between the staff and the family. They keep us updated on covid and informed about our loved one. I would recommend this community to others
My mom moved into Northstar at the end of November of 2020. She loves her apartment that she chose. She has birdfeeders just outside her windows and so enjoys the antics that the birds get into each day. This has been a great comfort for her since she is in her room most of the time. She also has told me that the food they serve her is good. Being that we are all going through covid-19 issues, it's been hard for her to be away from her family and friends. She is lonely and that's hard for me as her daughter to hear. When she is allowed she walks out back on the paths which she enjoys. She has spoken to me about the back area needing some TLC. I hope when covid is over this can be addressed . The staff are very nice and accommodating to the needs of our family as well as my mom. I look forward to when "normalcy" can return, so my mom, our family and all the staff can get on with life. My mom can then really experience the full potential of life at Northstar.
I would tell my friends not to do it. When I first moved my loved one there, everyone was sweet and happy. Once I signed him in, the whole experience changed. My loved one's room wasn't clean. I ended up moving my loved one out. It's not worth putting a loved one in Northstar Place. When the previous director was there, it was a completely different place.
We chose Northstar Place because of the value for what you get as well as the location. The room sizes here are very good. The food needs improvement according to my dad. The staff members excel at their job, especially [names removed]. They have all gone out of their way to make my father feel at home here. My favorite part about the community so far has been the staff members. I would absolutely recommend this facility. I could not happier.
They were going through a much needed management change, we were there at the wrong time. The staff did not respond to call button calls, sometimes it would take them an hour, it was supposed to take the 5-10 minutes. They spent more time cleaning than they did with their residents. I did see they had several group activities at times.
We chose Northstar Place because at the time they were one of the only place that was able to accept her. The room sizes are ok, her room she is in is like many others in the facility, but she is in an over sized wheelchair and cannot get through the doorway on her own because of the way it is set up, it makes it difficult. I have eaten here and the food was good, she says that she enjoys the food. I would recommend them to just about anybody. They have overall done a very good job.
Compared to other communities, Northstar is very good. The community never had an unpleasant odor. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuing community lock down, they have been good with communicating with us over the phone. Generally, the care was very good and there was nothing major that came up. For my mother, who was perhaps less likely than some to participate, the activities were good. We thought the pricing was also very standard for what was being offered.
Before the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuing community lock down, my mother was enjoying the variety of activities they had available and was also enjoying the food much more than at her previous community. She has made good friends there, and enjoys her room. We are glad she moved there as it has even a good experience and she is happy. She is getting her mess on time as well. Because of the lock down, the residents are asked to remain in their rooms and it has been difficult for my mother to adjust to. The staff has been very responsive especially with my questions over the phone since I am not living close by.
Northstar Place is a clean environment. The staff are very friendly. The supervisors are friendly and open to suggestions and recommendations. The food is very good, The communication is good. The staff and residents are warm and accepting.
I spoke with my sister briefly about North Star and she is going to call [name removed] Tuesday morning I think. She has questions to address. She did tell me the told her about a community fee $2500.00. Not sure what that is about and why some of the other facilities didn't have that charge. Pretty steep charge beyond all the other charges they want. This is about all I have to tell you about right now.
