My mom is absolutely thriving at Horton Plaza and is as happy as she could ever be. The facility is very clean, the staff are wonderful, and the meals and activities provided are excellent. The first day that she was here she had residents knocking on her door all day introducing themselves. The maintenance staff are great, she had a lot of furniture delivered from wayfair and they helped her put it all together and hang the pictures on her wall. They have an assisted living wing as well and I am sure that they get the same kind of care and attention that the residents in independent living get. We love Horton Plaza.... Read more

My husband and I have a friend that is more like our father who has lived there since July 2019. We are his POA and his health care reps. They are refusing to let us in (even after COVID lock down is over) because I swore and my husband wrote a negative review. Within an hour of writing the review we got a call saying he would not be allowed in either. The manager's actions are retaliatory and she has shown she does not care about our friend's care as before kicking me out I was in the process of hiring care givers for him. I asked her to work with me on this and she would not. She actually advised me to take him out to conduct interviews (while he was sick during this COVID crisis). Clearly this was not in his best interest and I can only assume they are more concerned with liability issues then with the well being of their residents. They actually talked to a lawyer and had them send us a no trespass notice. The longterm care Ombudsman who we called to advocate for us told us that the letter would not hold up in court as residents living there have the right to see who they want. He confirmed that the manager wants us out because of rudeness/swearing and the negative review. She even went so far as to say that they do not want the residents to swear either. This is very disturbing for us as our friend is losing his memory more and more and needs our oversight and care. We now have to either hire a lawyer or move our friend into another facility. Please do not put your loved one in this facility.

Response from Horton Plaza
July 25, 2016Thank you so much! We enjoy making Horton Plaza a great place to call home for our residents.
I am a trustee and poa to a wonderful 92 year old lady. She was at Horton Plaza for a few years in the assisted living side. Had to finally move her due to the fact that they were charging her for services they were not giving. The head of personal care also gave her the wrong medication. If it hadn't been for the private caregiver i hired, she would have taken it. Her response was "no big deal, it wouldn't hurt her". There were also numerous things that disappeared from her room, and the staff told me that she was always losing things. They even argued with my husband who is a physician when he questioned her care. If you care about your patents, do not place them there.
