When looking for care for your loved one, I suggest that you talk to other residents if you can. Overall the staff is very good with memory care patients here. They're extremely good about communicating to the family. I would like to see them be more observant to cleanliness of the rooms. Also, if a patient only eats a certain type of food, I would like to see them make sure that food is available to the patient.

All of the high ratings above speak for themselves.
I liked this community but the pricing was too high for what we were looking for with our loved one. The tour was great and they gave us all of the information that we needed. Also the location was too far away for where I wanted my loved one to be located.
I loved Brookdale Oakwell. [name removed] was great. She followed up with me, but was not too pushy. If I only had 1 family member to place, this would have been our first choice. The activities they had for the residents were great.
we did a virtual tour with this community and it was good. The staff was very friendly and they answered all our questions. Pricing was higher than other places we looked at.
The community is very friendly, and helpful. The communication is on point especially for out of state family members. The food is enjoyed by my loved one. I was very pleased with the community. My loved one was there for a short stay. The people are standouts to me. I was able to know the Director, the receptionist was always helpful and pleasant. My loved one was there during COVID. They were happy here.
The level of compassion and care for residents and their family members is not adequate compared to other facilities. The carpet is gross, and the food is substandard. The employees bring medicine constantly and it's a wonder people are surviving. If your loved one has a health condition, do not come here.
I would highly suggest this Community, The facility was close to us and they took really good care of my loved one. The room sizes were nice sized, the food was very good and the had a great variety.
My advice is that if you ever want to see your parent again, do not take them here. There are also roaches and bedbugs, the food in memory care is for the really sick, and the caregivers all steal and lie. I couldn’t agree more! The above review is very accurate. if you say anything about them or oppose anything, they retaliate! Run far away from this place as fast as you can!
Loving staff and atmosphere!

The experience my family had was that the employees are too involved with the patients, and they interfere with relationships. They block calls, prevent visits, and do not follow state compliant laws.
The employees at Brookdale Oakwell have been very helpful with my Mother's health needs.
Unorganized staff, however the residents seemed well taken care of and happy.
The facility was older and two residents came up to the director while he was giving me the tour to complain about the staff.
I toured this facility. It was very nice and they were very responsive. I wanted to move my Mom here but her financial needs were a bit more than what they could offer us. However, the facility was clean and there were no bad smells. You could see dogs and other animals running around and even with that going on it still smelled nice and like home. The interior was a little darker but they were decorating for Halloween at the time so that might be why. The rooms were a nice size as well.
My Grandma and Grandpa lived here. The place was great at the time, but when I tried to move my Mom in, they weren’t able to take her. The community is awesome though; they have really good food and plenty of activities available. The food was nutritious and well balanced and they seemed to have a lot of options. There were a lot of amenities and it was just nice overall. My grandpa really liked being there but there was a level of care he needed that wasn’t provided and eventually my grandmother had to hire someone from outside the facility to help. However, that was a while ago so there may have been changes that have been made since then.
I toured here when looking for a place for my sister and I liked it. It’s close to home and I was leaning towards it initially but after doing the tour with my sister, it appeared that they weren’t quite ready for operation. It was a superficial walk through of things. The facility was homey. The first time I toured it alone was right after the big storm and they were flooded, they were remodeling it and fixing it all up. The rooms were nice and everything was new because they had redone everything but my sister just didn’t seem to like it and we decided on a different facility because they didn’t seem to be ready to start caring for people.
The person that took us on tour was nice. The community looked clean. They offer transportation and they allow pets. Mom just did not think this community would work for her.
