An assisted living community is a residential community which administers supervision, support, and care to medically stable individuals who are not in need of skilled nursing care. The services offered often involve help with ADLs. Inhabitants may be kept under observation and evaluation. Under certain circumstances, communities may offer Alzheimer’s care, continuing care, or hospice. In Indiana, the annual median cost for an assisted living community is around 49,200. Indiana maintains specific standards associated with this kind of community. Indiana State Department of Health regulates this community type. Staff members receive education in a number of fields. These include executing a minor regimen based upon a nursing diagnosis or as prescribed by a physician, physician’s assistant, chiropractor, dentist, optometrist, podiatrist, or nurse practitioner, comprehensive nursing care, a nursing diagnosis, and scheduled transportation for community-based activities.
