Assisted living communities arrange organized living communities and assistance for people who need help with dressing or bathing. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include meals must comply with residents’ dietary preference, the total daily diet must meet the recommended dietary allowances of the National Academy of Sciences Food and Nutrition Board, meals must include an appropriate variety of foods, planned in consideration of cultural and religious backgrounds , and communities must provide at least three meals per day and snacks. Public assistance is available through The state’s Medicaid 1915(c) Assisted Living Waiver program. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include medication administration and assistance with self-administration of medications. There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. Staff members receive training in a variety of areas. These include: the aging process, Administrators must complete 40 hours of continuing education units every 2 years, knowledge required to safely assist with prescribed medications, and skills and knowledge required to provide necessary resident care.
