Assisted living communities arrange residential living communities and aid to people who need a helping hand with everyday activities such as dressing or cooking. Assisted living communities often offer care supervision, outings for social activity, and assistance with transit and appointments. Staff members receive education in a number of fields. These areas include the importance and techniques of personal care services and universal precautions, housekeeping and sanitation procedures, 10 hours of initial training within the first 4 weeks of employment and 4 additional hours annually, and first-aid. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. Public assistance is available through The state’s Medicaid 1915(c) Assisted Living Waiver program. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include medication administration and assistance with self-administration of medications.
