Run! They can improve by getting, management that actually cares and knows the whereabouts of the residents. Also, some new paint and new carpeting, especially in the resident rooms and better food and no water down juices. I would not recommend this place to other people. It was a horrible experience for my loved ones.

Great Community Overall
I would recommend the community to others. I would make sure that you make sure it is the right fit for your loved one. If you want quick response to questions or concerns, this may not be the place for you. There can be delays due to waiting on doctors; however, the staff that keep talking to you are very friendly. Some requests are not done in a timely manner, and this can be frustrating sometimes. The staff are good at checking on the residents and keeping them safe. There are three meals a day served and there is also a bistro area for the residents to pick up items to take with them.

Wonderful, Warm, Inviting community with friendly residents and staff!
Atria Hillcrest is by far one of the most inviting communities that I have visited. It is centrally located in Thousand Oaks close to downtown. First impressions is that it is well maintained, warm, and inviting! If you are considering a new option for your loved one look no further! There are plenty of activities, the food is decent, and the staff and residents are very friendly!

One-Stop Shop for Your Mom's Care Needs
The staff is very friendly and very helpful. My loved one had some issues when she moved in, and they were very patient with her. It's expensive, but compared to other services, it's comparable if not a little less. There is a peace of mind in knowing that my family member is taken care of and there's someone there to help her if I can't be there. One thing I wish they would do better is transportation. Even under Covid, they're supposed to give transportation to doctor appointments within a certain radius. But their time restrictions are so tight that it ends up you can never use them. They'll only provide transportation on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 9:30 - 3:00. And with Covid, you don't get a lot of choices on when your doctor appointments are going to be. I've not been able to go inside much to visit, but from what I'm seeing in the lobby it looks clean. The hallways by the rooms could be a little cleaner. Activities have been restricted due to Covid, but things are opening up more and getting better, which is great. I think that they're trying to do as much as they can with the restrictions the county has given them.

When In Doubt, Make the Decision to Move Your Loved One Into Atria
It is expensive, and it will get more expensive. We've already had a rent increase. But you probably aren't wanting to put your loved one in a cheap place. They have managed Covid extremely well. They keep a good eye on my loved one. My loved one likes the staff, and they seem to be very nice to her. They have an in-house doctor who seems to always be there if you choose to use him. I've toured the facility remotely, and it looks like a really nicely managed facility. What I wish they had was a bit more support for financial aid scenarios that seniors need to navigate in paying for their care. And their payment website could be a whole lot better. In general, we're happy our loved one is here. We don't feel like she would still be with us if she wasn't.

My review of Atria Hillcrest
We are very happy with our experience at Atria Hillcrest. We chose this facility because it seemed like it was a more homey setting than some other places that we looked into, it is in a beautiful setting surrounded by a lot of oak trees. She was also able to get a room onto the first floor which was nice. I would definitely recommend to others looking.

very Disappointing!
What can I say besides I am so disappointed that I had to move my mom out of here after one horrible experience after another. This place is so understaffed and the staff that is there just can't do what they are supposed to do because far too much is expected of them. They lure you in with grounds and rooms that are very attractive and the food is excellent as well. Wish they'd spend more time on care and less on surroundings. Do not believe what you are told by the sales staff and directors as they just want to make money for the corporation and don't care about the residents or staff. Please steer clear of this facility so you and your elderly relatives don't have to experience all that we had to go through!!!

Too expensive for lousy care
Poor management. Some caregivers are great and others not so much. Very short staffed. Caregivers are overworked it. Residents don’t get the care they are paying so much money for because of lack of staff. Many residents are inappropriate for the facility because they are too heavy and caregivers have gotten hurt. Also a few residents in LG are verbally and physically abusive to other residents and staff.

I liked the facility and the staff that I met. I did not like that their Bingo games and horse racing games ( activities) required a monetary buy-in. My mother worries and sresses over money- she wouldn’tike this ( even though its only a quarter !) I also didn’t like that the levels of care were set by hours spent with the resident, instead of services given. Felt like it would be caregivers tallying minutes spent with mom.

Just Marvelous!
The Atria Hillcrest is a beautiful, marvelous community! My friend fell in love with the community when she first saw it. I love the community as well I visit almost daily. The staff is very friendly and caring. My friend has just started to participate in the various activities. She uses the gym for her physical therapy. The residents are very friendly and we are both making new friends. They just recently had a concert to come and play in the community. I would definitely recommend Atria Hillcrest.

A Place for Mom has scored Atria Hillcrest 8.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
