Assisted living communities provide care, oversight, and social events to individuals who are on average 65 years old. Assisted living communities frequently offer aid with daily activities, chances for organized activity, and help with transit and appointments. In select situations, communities may offer skilled nursing, hospice, or respite. In California, the annual median cost for an assisted living community is around $54,000 . The state of California maintains specific standards related to this type of community. The Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division governs this type of community. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. There must be one toilet for every 1 residents and one bath or shower for every 1 residents.
