For the short period of time that my wife stayed there, everything was very satisfactory. The food was nourishing and tasty. The staff was kind and attentive. Her dementia decline was so rapid, that, within a few days of her initial move-in, they recommended that she be under hospice care. Those folks were wonderful. Gardens at Escondido is a three-story senior living community encompassed by beautifully maintained hedges and charming gardens. Residents have several ways to enjoy some fresh air as the community offers plenty of shaded patio seating in the garden area and rooftop seating that overlooks the enchanted garden space. With independent living, assisted living, and memory care services available, residents can gracefully age in place in Escondido, California.
Situated on the cusp of a residential neighborhood, the area provides access to a shopping center filled with restaurants and retail stores. The area also offers medical facilities, banks, and grocery stores for added convenience. The city of Escondido also offers parks, country clubs, a performing arts center, and more to keep residents entertained.
On-site, residents also have a range of amenities — as the community aims to offer something for everyone to enjoy. Mom feels right at home
Gardens at Escondido according to our loved one feels much more like a homey environment. The communication with the staff has been really good. The staff we have met with and gotten to know on the memory care side we like a lot and they will always call or email us with any kind of updates regarding our loved one. We are happy with the care our loved one is receiving and we would recommend them to other families looking for a place for their loved ones.

Over COVID
I put my loved one here and 3 days later they locked down the whole facility due to COVID. A month later they opened up and then right now they are in another lock down and I am not able to visit. I have been extremely disappointed because it seems like a great place, but I have not even really been able to go inside.

It is my pleasure to write this review as I cannot say enough good things about my experience with the staff at The Gardens of Escondido. [name removed] was most gracious and empathetic to my stressful circumstances in finding the best community for my 98-year-old mother. She was always available for questions and always had the answers and provided good direction. [name removed] was the first to meet and she was also most genuine and helpful. [name removed]and [name removed], the entire staff was so very helpful and was so with such aplomb.
I highly recommend The Gardens at Escondido. Their professional yet passionate manner is most refreshing. Something you simply do not see any many businesses anymore.

Caring staff makes my mom feel at home
The staff makes her feel really welcome and at home. She constantly says you picked such a good place for me. This was the most affordable place that was the nicest. It was surprising to me how affordable it was. I feel like there is a trade off with the services that are offered. I think they could have more brain engaging activities rather than just having social hours. I feel if she had more types of mental stimulating activities that she would have improved quicker. They recently transitioned to Gardens from Atria and it was not communicated well to the families, I think communication is something that could be improved. The people who interact with her are very sweet. The executive director seems cool and she is trying to run with the new transition. The facility is really small, so if your family member would be overwhelmed by a large facility, this would be a good cozy place for them. There is limited outside space but it is all well cared for. It is immaculately clean and the person who does the maintenance is super sweet.

The Gardens is a great assisted living place.
Coming from a traditional home we were skeptical of using assisted living for my grandmother. But with everyone working and taking care of the children it become harder to make sure her needs were met. Luckily the Gardens have proven very capable of making sure she is comfortable and her needs met. Staff is very kind and patient, haven't had a single complaint and for the price it's worth it. Definitely put my and my family's mind as ease having her here.

Great atmosphere and helpful staff!
Just stopped by to visit my aunt for a bit and I was very impressed by how lively the atmosphere was! All the staff I encountered were very helpful in pointing me in the right direction and seemed happy to help. I thought the place also smelled lovely!

Tour of The Gardens
We had a really good tour experience with Gardens at Escondido. The only reason we did not choose this facility was because it was a very large place that was spread out which would require a lot of walking.

Understaffed
We did have a lot of problems with the care just because of the lack of staff, the staff that they did have were great though. I did not feel he got the care that my loved one got the care that they should have had. I found the maintenance staff and housekeeping staff exceptional. All departments were understaffed which I would say is an administrative issue.

Care of My Father
My dad went to Atria from another retirement home. His care from the medical staff at Atria has been outstanding. The other place didn't give him the care he needed.

It was good value for the cost
From what we were we able to see of the community it was very clean, and based off the menu we saw the food looked to be pretty good. We do believe just based off the schedule and calendar they had plenty of activities to offer. Overall for what they offered and the price that we paid we do think the value was good, and if our loved one was just a little more pleasant and more involved we really think they would of enjoyed their time.

I would definitely recommend Atria
The staff members would be a five plus, and the food looks good and good portions. They did their best with the activities, they got IPads so we could talk to our loved ones when they were locked down. Once we could go visits they would set up outside areas. When they had to quarantine they would play bingo on the IPads, so they got very creative.

A great place for my mom
the staff at the community is outstanding, the care they provide is second to none, and the compassion they provide the families is wonderful.
The room sizes are smaller than others but they are enough, and she loved the food.
I would recommend this community to others.

Decent value for the money
The community was overall very clean. The staff was good, however sometimes availability was in question. Overall, the care was good. The only thing we thought needed improvement were the laundry services. They always had activities available for residents. The price for this community was ok overall.
