Maintenance requests have not been answered for months, ie new lightbulbs, keys not working, air filters not changed, stucco falling off outside walls, minor toilet adjustments. Waiting time in the dining room is getting better, but still needs improvement, menus don't represent accurately what is actually served. The place has lots of potential after they get the problems fixed, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone until they make the improvements that are needed.

It would take a complete re structuring and an actual program that was followed and actual activities caring people it was not a good experience for us at Las Villas Del Norte.

Everything was great but the food was not so great. We picked this community, because it just seemed good, and we went there before hand and talked to the clients. They all were happy.

There is very nice outdoor space at the facility for residents to enjoy. They have exercise to enjoy all day long , chair yoga is very popular. [name removed] the executive director is priceless, she is very hands on. She actually comes and gets my friend up in the morning to exercise if she does not go and will lead them herself. My friend raves about the food! She says that the portion sizes are pretty big that they give out. There are plenty of activities provided. She has gotten pretty sick and there is a nurse in the building who is always there and she is always coming down and helping out, she takes really good care of her and is great with communication to the family. They are short staffed but they are doing the best that they can, they are overcoming that obstacle and the needs are still met. The value for what she gets is very good. They have a pool, happy hour, coffee bar etc. I would highly recommend Las Villas Del Norte to others looking.

We were happier in the beginning when my mom first started - at the end it got busier. As they filled up with more residents the care got less - it was harder to be with residents that had more issues ( it got louder, etc.). But the workers were very caring and kind.

We had a great tour experience with las Villas Del Norte. They were very transparent with us about what they could and could not do for our loved one and we really appreciated that about them. I think they did an outstanding job.
I wouldn't recommend the community to others for their loved ones. We had a lot of lack of care being received by my loved one. The community and staff aren't doing what they have told the family they would. My loved one isn't receiving the experience we thought they would for the money we are paying. There are three meals a day and the residents have choices. However for the last few months the community didn't have meat or fruit for breakfast and only would receive eggs. The residents weren't allowed to ask for seconds during this time period. The Executive Director is open to the feedback and is willing to work with the family to make these changes for us. They recently hired a new Executive Chef for the community and we are anxious to see how this go.

I thought Las Villas Del Norte was very nice place, and we were definitely considering it. We just preferred the memory care at a different facility a little more.
Response from Las Villas Del Norte
October 4, 2022Thank you for visiting our community. We are pleased to hear that you liked it. If anything changes in the future for you, we are always here for you.
We had a great tour experience with Las Villas Del Norte. It seemed like a wonderful place and I almost went with this facility. I am kind of regretting not placing my loved one here because we are not having the best experience where she is at now.
They are slow to respond to needed repairs. Mom was without AC for several days during 90* weather. When it was fixed, leaked for several days before final repair. Slip/fall issue as well as bowl sitting on floor for days. We were assured low sodium diets was a priority and option. Diet has been ongoing issue. Menu states "baked" but come out fried. Major lack of kitchen help. Unknown why an issue. Residents can wait for an hour to get meals and may still not get what was ordered. Weekend nursing staff as well as admin can be found working in kitchen/dining room due to lack of staff. Last holiday residents we served in their rooms again due to lack of dining room staff to serve. We will be requesting a meeting to address these issues next week. Overall the facility seems well maintained. Activities director is great. Additional staff would take care of their shortfalls.

I can give a brief statement about Las villas. Unfortunately my Mom has already transitioned to a new facility because her care was elevated from AL to memory care and the higher number environment at Memory care was not favorable to her long term.

My wifes father was in there. We were very happy with the care there. It was my first pick but I didn't like the shower arrangment. They had four showers to service all people, which was down the hall. But now, I would take my wife there if I had the opportunity. It's a better fit.
They have been fantastic to work with. We couldn't be happier with our experience. We toured several communities in addition to this one. The indoor and outdoor spaces are wonderful here. My loved one has been there for a few months. My loved one is in hospice care, and the community was able to allow an outside hospice agency come in to care for my loved one. The staff has gone above and beyond, along with the communication with the family. The meals have been great and they have a wide selection for the residents to choose from. There are menus for the residents to select from as well.

Las Villas Del Norte has been a good experience for our family. They were very helpful with the transition for our loved one, and I would recommend them to others. The staff are great and provide good care. Anna, who works in my father's area, is awesome. She's very responsive and very helpful. And the facility itself looks good to me.

Our loved one was at a previous community for [years removed] and this community is half the cost, but provided twice as much care. They do around the clock checkups all throughout the day and night on the residents and call the families immediately if there are any concerns. The community itself is so nice and clean and they really engage the entire community in activities. We have not eaten the meals ourselves, but we have heard it is farm fresh to table. The staff members treat the residents respectfully and as equals. We wish we had found them sooner.

Response from Las Villas Del Norte
April 19, 2022Christina, We wish you had found us sooner! Thank you for all your kind words and wonderful review. Jolene
If you're looking for a place for a loved one with memory and/or senior issues, definitely consider Las Villas Del Norte. We looked at 3-4 other places, and Las Villas won out on location, the staff, and the facility itself. My mom has her own little apartment, and she seems to be pretty happy where she's at. We're happy with it too. Everybody there is very friendly. They are kind, considerate, and caring. Mom is getting excellent care, and they stay on top of everything. The only complaint she has had is they never give her dessert - which is not the case. They give dessert at every meal, just not the super sweet ones she prefers. So they're looking out for her in spite of herself. And otherwise she has no complaints about the food. They have quite a number of activities. She gets into the group sing-alongs and movie times. And they have a garden club that she enjoys when the weather is nice. But otherwise, she just wants to sit back and observe. At times I wish she would do more, but that's just part of the challenges of dealing with a loved one with dementia.

Response from Las Villas Del Norte
April 19, 2022Joseph, We're so glad your mom is so active in our Vibrant Life program. [name removed] and the team will continue to make sure she is engaged at Las Villas. Thank you for your kind words! Jolene
We're very happy and satisfied with Las Villas Del Norte. The staff are amazing. They're great communicators, and they're very excited to help. There are a lot of activities if your loved one wants to take advantage of them. The only hiccup has been a misunderstanding about dining hours. We were told the dining room was open from 7am-6pm, and our contract even stated that. But then when he got there, there are three distinct meal times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Response from Las Villas Del Norte
April 5, 2022Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We apologize for the current inconvenience with our dining room. It is under renovation. When it reopens mid-April, the dining room will operate with no set meal times as it was prior to our construction taking place. Please come join us for a meal in our brand new dining room! If you have any questions or issues, please call me. Jolene, 760.741.1047
Las Villas is a clean safe friendly community with a good staff team. They do have a lot of fun activities like ice cream socials, painting classes and other fun things throughout the week, but our loved one has mild dementia and we thought the staff would encourage our loved one more or just do friendly reminders. They have a great cable package with so many different channels so the residents just have to continuously flip through channels to find what they are looking for. When we moved our loved one in there was no orientation or packet to refer back to on so we had to learn everyone ourselves. We had to learn about the shuttle service and scheduling appointments, we had to learn the laundry service and the dining service. It would be nice if there was just something to get us started. The dining room is undergoing remodeling and is closed off so the food is being delivered to the rooms and overall even with the meals sometimes being a hit or miss our loved one thinks they are good.
