I'm very happy with the place, and I've already referred a couple of people to them. I like the fact that it has a keypad door so people can't just wander in. You have to know somebody to be able to get into the apartment area. I love the staff. My parents are very picky eaters, and they actually like the food. I like the fact that there's an a la carte menu they can order from, and the kitchen is open all throughout the day, which accommodates different preferences for meal times. I like the variety of activities they offer. We've had a couple of maintenance issues. My parents' heating/air conditioning unit is difficult to understand how to operate, and we've asked numerous times for it to be replaced, but they've not done that yet. Also, they have a leaky faucet that hasn't been fixed for a month or so. But that's because they lost their maintenance person.
Our family was able to do an in person tour before the pandemic and it was nice. We were able to go around and see all the rooms and what they had to offer. It was clean and there were no weird or fowl smells.
Response from Las Villas Del NorteJuly 16, 2021
Thank you so much for coming to tour our community. Since you were here before the pandemic, please come back and see us again. Our soon-to-completed renovation and upgrade of our community will give you a whole new view!
We got my mom in here and they were very helpful. She was in independent living and things kind of went downhill quickly so we had to move her out after only about 4 days. The staff were as helpful as they could have been. I would recommend them.
We chose Las Villas Del Norte because of the convenient location and the value for the money. They have been average with communication with everything going on. Overall, I would recommend to others looking.
Along with a virtual tour of the Las Villas facility, [name removed] walked us through the procedures to be followed in advance of placing my Mom in any facility so that we can begin this process. Very imformative and patient as she answered every question and provided a level of comfort that Las Villas would be a quality facility that would look after all Mom's needs.
The communication is very good and the staff is very friendly. I would like a better understanding of what her day looks like and what she has been doing. I would definitely recommend this community to others. When I would go visit I felt like they should be more cautious with protecting the residence against covid.
It is a good place if you can afford. The service is outstanding that you receive. I believe Jolene is super nice and sensitive to the needs of the families and residents. My only suggestion is I would like to receive a weekly community newsletter.
My only complaint is the lack of communication with the family. They have not communicated their covid plan or any updates about the community. The community is very nice and clean. The staff is very friendly and caring.
I would recommend to others who are looking into the facility that things would go better if you have an advocate for your loved ones if your loved have limited capability or cannot be an advocate for themselves.
Our experience was in the memory care unit. I would recommend this community for others for their loved ones. The staff was very good at showing patience, compassion, and being attentive to the residents. They would make my loved one feel like they weren't alone. The community allowed us to bring our dog in to see my loved one.
We were impressed with Las Villas Del Norte because of the location as well as the affordability. I also looked and it had great reviews. The room sizes here are small, but they are better than a studio and it was appropriate for her needs. I ate here pre-covid and the food was good, they were chef prepared meals that you could order off a menu. Overall, I think it is a good value, location, and I would definitely recommend it.
Las Villas offers a lot of activities, they would send us pictures of activities our loved one was doing. They celebrate holidays and birthdays. They also let the residents walk around in their beautiful indoor garden. As far as we know there has been no positive cases of COVID on the memory care side. We liked how this community was not to large, and we also like how the memory care residents were together and they weren't mixed in with the general population. The staff members are long term, there is not a lot of turnovers at this community. They know all the patients by name. Our loved one spoke another language, and some of the staff members would try to learn some words in her language to make her feel comfortable. They really did treat her well.
Our loved one moved in to this community right before COVID and passed away just a few short weeks after. Our experience with this community is only during those short weeks. We believe they were not on top of his care during his stay. They had a round the clock nurse which is why we selected this facility, but the never really got a good handle on his medical condition during those weeks, even after hours of explaining everything to them. The lack of was we believe was a contributing factor to his quick passing. From what we saw the activities seemed to be fine.
We have been disappointed with the quality of care. At the beginning there were sometimes long waits after pushing a buttom for help. That has improved some but other things also have been problems. When supplies were delivered for the patient they were not delivered to her room for over a week and only then when family inquired. She is supposed to have 2 showers a week but the time varies greatly and earlier this week she missed her shower on the day scheduled. Such things as cleanliness can't be evaluated because family are not allowed in due to the pandemic. The situation seems to be poor management of staff. The cost will be going up this month because the patient needs more care but we don't have the exact amount.
Pets, no kitchen, has kitchenette, small lap pool, balcony, salon, cable, utilities. One time fee=$2,ooo. 1 BR=3,055 per month. Beach is one block.
Unfortunately, Las Villas Del Norte did not work out well for my father. He was in the memory care unit and was higher functioning than nearly all other residents. He became very much aware that he was locked in and became very agitated within just a few days of moving in and could not adjust. Although he was hospitalized for a few weeks in an effort to adjust medications, he was unable to return to the facility and after a few weeks in a behavioral health unit, he was transferred to a residential care facility where he passed away a few weeks later.
[Name removed] is an amazing guide and the care seems top notch! Glad to hear the food is not just good but nutritious. This was a little older building and needed some maintenance like on the main doors. This seems a very organized place with a lot of heart.
My 98 year old mother-in-law's stay was unsatisfactory and disappointing, to the extent that after 7 weeks, she left 3 weeks early. While some of the caregivers were courteous and caring, many were disrespectful and uncaring. The pendant system did not work. She waited at times in excess of an hour before someone responded. While the dining room staff were courteous and polite, the food was not good; not only did she not eat much of what was served, most of the residents left most of the food on their plate. The management was not engaged with the residents; therefore received no or little feedback regarding unsatisfactory conditions. Unless things improve significantly, particularly pendant response time and quality of food, I would not recommend Las Villas Del Norte for an assisted living facility.
This facility and their staff have been a blessing for our family. We moved Mom and Dad in [date removed]. Their room is great, the cat loves his balcony and they like most the activities. The dining room is very nice and for the most part they like the meals and choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There seems to be entertainment most days and my parents love that! The weekly scenic drive is definitely a highlight too! I would highly recommend Las Villas del Norte.
