About the facility Poway Gardens Senior Living
Cadence at Poway Gardens is a beautiful 32acre 100% memory care community located in the naturally scenic hills of northern Poway. Our 86 resident bed community is made up of five (5) Garden Villas (6 bed ranch style homes) and two (2) larger homes that are comprised of a 24 resident bed home and 32 resident bed home, both being shared room environments. Within our 32acre community, we have five(5) organic gardens and a greenhouse, where our residents are able to learn about horticulture and also assist in the planting, growing and even harvesting , if they so choose, organic produce, alongside many of our volunteers and helpers in our children’s garden. We currently produce 24,000lbs each year, in which a large portion is used in our own kitchen for resident meals. We also offer fantastic intergenerational programs with the local youth of Poway. Local to us, St. Michaels Catholic and Montessori school, visit weekly (pre/post COVID), bringing our residents and these students together to interact and learn with one another and from one another. BEWARE
My mother was at this facility for 8 years. The caregivers are wonderful, but management, especially the Director is awful. They are under staffed and the employees are spread thin trying to cover for each other.
I know this first hand because I was there almost everyday for those 8 years. The residents and staff have become part of our family, my 3 granddaughters grew up in that house and we have cherished the time we've spent there.
My mother passed away 3 days ago, and 10 HOURS after she passed I received a phone call from the director saying she was sorry for our loss and they would be charging us a daily fee for everyday that her belongings remained in her room. The next morning I received an email saying they saw her belongings were gone and our bill was $[removed].
This was supposed to be a time of reflecting and grieving and because of their insensitivity I am angry and can think of nothing but making sure no-one has this happen to them.

Caring and Loving Home for Loved Ones
What we like the most about the Poway Garden Senior Living community is the staff, they are very kind and they gave excellent care and good services. The food that is prepared for the meals are good. The community is very clean and the personnel is wonderful.

Home-like community
My loved one refuses to go to any out of the house activities so I can't really rate that. Activities in house seem to be ok. They don't seem to be able to help me get her clothes or other needs and I love out of state with no way to return what she doesn't like or what fits. They don't seem to be able to control what she eats and she has gained 20 pounds in 1 year. At [fee removed] a month I think I should be getting more help as my loved one is self sufficient and doesn't require help with anything.

Wonderful Care
So far they are great! Very clean facility. Very friendly. They give my husband wonderful care. They have a new chef, and the food is better. The caregivers are very attentive. The place is less crowded. They keep the residents active with music, bingo. TV, coloring books. The cost is less and more reasonable than our previous rent. Overall I do recommend Poway Garden. They are friendly and very helpful.

Review of Cadence at Poway Gardens
The listing is incorrect, stating bracelets are given to residents that roam or are known to escape, nothing as such for security. Past reviews are from when this was Sunshine Care, a loving caring community. Cadence only cares about taking your money, they don’t provide security or have employees monitor residents with care. My father was a resident, was left unattended, climbed a fence and passed away. Check Social Services website to get information.

Caring staff members make this place like home
We chose Cadence at Poway Gardens because of the size, it was a smaller community and had a great staff to patient ratio. It did not feel institutional at all, very home like and accommodating and welcoming. It really felt like a family. They have very devoted, long-term staff members who work here as well which makes all the difference. It all felt very comfortable and a place that would be an easy transition for my father. I cannot say enough about the staff members, the last year of my fathers life were during covid and they found many ways to work with families to keep communication between loved ones and residents. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable.

Excellent care
Sunshine care was like a final gift. Our regret is we did not move her there sooner. Beautiful surroundings and activities and excellent care. She passed away 2 months after moving there. We wish she had been there longer to enjoy it. The price is amazing compared to our previous facility which was 2.5 times more expensive without nearly the individualized care and attention and small homey atmosphere. To know the price would not increase with each and every need was perfect as someone in memory care would naturally have increased needs. The previous place billed for every single thing and there was no maximum.

Amazing Community
Sunshine Care is the most unique community to service Memory Care. They can manage the needs of their residents on every level so they can age in place. The care staff and management is outstanding!!! Sunshine Care is privately owned so everyone knows exactly who your loved one is, and what is going on with their care. You will never have to cold call a toll free number and give 5 minutes of background to get your question answered. Everyone from the Care Manager, Nurse and even the Executive Director [removed] is directly accessible.
Once you tour and compare the market, Sunshine Care is the only answer to ensure your loved one is cared for as if they were the staff’s own family member

They've been wonderful! My husband seems to be much stronger. The reason we chose Sunshine is they have a lot of staff. They are so good with everybody and they all work together as a team. I've even seen the manager help a person eat.They are so good to my husband. Everyone I've talked to says the same thing about the staff.

I couldn't ask for better!
I absolutely love and am so happy with the Sunshine Care Assisted Living and Memory Care. The staff has gone above and beyond they will call and send me pictures of my mother when I am not able to visit. When I was on vacation my mother had to be hospitalized and one of the nurses went with her and stayed with her until the family got to the hospital. They truly have the biggest hearts and I can't say enough good things about them. I highly recommend this place!

First tour and I knew this was perfect for my mother. She has been there for less than a month and seems happy.

A Good Community
I was able to take a tour of this lovely community. I did like what I saw through out the place. I can imagine the residents are happy too. I had notice the residents were being transported around by mini-vehicles to such things like activities. I felt this could confuse my mom. Overall the tour went good but I did not choose this community based on the price. It did not fit my budget.

More than we hoped for.
Mom is almost 92 with dementia. We hesitated choosing a place until things became too difficult for us and there were no more options., We chose Sunshine. We loved the unique environment that's more like a large loving home with friends, than an institutional setting that sterile and cold. It's warm and inviting and Mom is so happy there, has less anxiety and her blood pressure is lower than it has been in 30 years. Mom doesn't feel like a number, or an old person without feelings. She knows she's loved by family and she continues to feel loved and cared for at Sunshine. The staff is wonderful and they truly enjoy their work. They are upbeat, kind, patient and compassionate. Their expertise is invaluable for families who acknowledge their limitations caring for a loved one with dementia. The facility is nestled among pine trees and surrounded by beautiful gardens. There are activities that Mom not only enjoys, but those that help her feel productive and proud. She feels respected and even appreciated for just being there and being herself. She is well-cared for. The in-house visiting doctor is wonderful and we know Mom is in good hands. We always feel welcome and are so thankful to have found Sunshine Care.

Great place!
Our experience with Sunshine Care has been a very good one. You can tell that the staff really get it here. They understand the sort of help that seniors need and how best to provide it. They take great care of each and every one of their residents, and know how to keep them comfortable and happy.
