Independent Living

Many seniors may be physically and mentally able to live without assistance, but cost of owning a home and the upkeep of daily tasks and chores might be a deterrent to enjoying an otherwise independent lifestyle. Independent Living Communities offer a convenient solution to this situation. Basic tasks such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is maintained, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they see fit, free from daily responsibilities. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, surrounded by others of similar age groups and interests. Within the individual units, residents have access to their own private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a companion if they choose. While policies differ between communities, many residences allow pets as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with independent care providers if desired. There are a number of advantages and expenditures to keep in mind when selecting an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are covered in the service plan: internet access, Waiting list deposit, utilities, laundry, transportation, meals, parking, and move-in fee. The conveniences that pertain to independent living include restaurant-style dining hall, game/TV room, security guards, healthcare center, laundry service, fitness center & swimming pool, private rental hall, and golf course.
