Unreasonable billing policy

While the staff is compassionate and friendly, the facility is understaffed, like many facilities. What is especially unfortunate is that they are inflexible with adjusting the amount they choose to bill in the 30 day period after my family member left the facility. His care level was at their highest charge as was his medication administration. Yet, now that he's not there, they continue in the last 30 days to bill the full amount rather than reduce it to a lower care level. He's not even there but they refuse to adjust the bill. Their reasoning is that they plan 30 days in advance the staff they will need based on the care expectations. While this makes sense, they are understaffed and would likely not be sending anyone home anyway. It took me having to call corporate before I was given this explanation. Up until that call I was told, "Sorry, it's the policy". I don't hold this against the care staff as they were great.

Would not recommend. Understaffed. Wish I had just started with home care instead.

Keep your loved one home and hire someone to come to your home. After two weeks, I took my mother out of The Oaks and into my home. They, like all assisted living places, are very understaffed.

Dear anonymous, we are appreciative of all feedback and evaluate to ensure we are constantly improving. When and where we find opportunities to make appropriate adjustments, we do so. We are very familiar with the specifics related to the situation you reference. As we previously explained, the expectation that community personnel handle the unpacking process at move-in was not appropriate - that responsibility does belong to the family. As a result, you elected to make the decision to simply move out - an unfortunate choice. However, that choice should not be used to negatively impact the incredible work done by our community's team members or our reputation. We do hope your loved one is doing well, and we wish you both the best.

Very happy with the Experience

Staff is amazing and so very patience with Mom and any elderly person living there. I was attracted to the facility as it was very modern, new, clean, presented itself extremely well, and the prices were the most reasonable out there too.

Tour experience

The Oaks at Algonquin was a little too modern and cold feeling, if that makes sense? I felt like someone my age could be very comfortable there, but it was not as homey as [facility name removed]. It was really just a matter of finding the place that seemed right for my dad's age and personality.

Warm and engaging.

The staff are wonderful with mom. However, she cannot eat in the dining room because foods are highly spiced, and she is very sensitive.

Positive Experience

I am very pleased with this place. They are doing a great job. We picked this community, because my loved one needed memory care. It's a much more open community, and the facility is brighter, has more outdoor space and is a more cheerful environment. With the food, it would be nice if they had a more varied menu. The staff is very caring, and very helpful.

This community is fairly new, but it's really great and is growing! I have no doubt that it will continue to go well. Maintenance has been very responsive and helpful. The staff is just great, we really love the staff here. Mom has chosen not to participate in very many activities yet, but the few she has done she has really enjoyed. They're working on encouraging her to participate more. Her apartment is phenomenal. Housekeeping is every other week and they do great. I would absolutely recommend them to friends and family.

The Oaks at Algonquin was pretty much brand new, and the facility was beautiful. It was much bigger than the place we chose, which isn't a bad thing. It just depends on your personal preference. I thought it was a very nice place. My loved one just needed more care than they could provide.

The evolving family

Life began slowly, first we had to get a bigger group, then activities grew and soon we were finding our path. Apartment is a good fit. Meals are needing work. Making friends has been great, and most situations have been resolved.
