The staff members are all very friendly, they are very personable and seem more like friends rather than employees. Our loved one absolutely raves about how great the food is there, it would get an A++, they also are still providing activities even though they are still somewhat limited. The staff really do bend over backwards for the residents, and we are having some trouble with the long term care insurance and The Hearth has been very cooperative, helpful, and accommodating with the process.... I toured with The Hearth at Tuxis Pond and it was fine. There was really nothing negative that I saw about the place. It was the furthest away from where I live, so location wise that just put the facility at the bottom of our list. The tour was good though.

My mom went from a rehab facility to the Hearth on [date removed], the day that it was announced that no visitors could enter the building and residents would be quarantined due to Covid 19. It’s been very hard not to see first hand how my mother has been doing and very hard for her to be dropped off in a strange place without being able to visit family and friends. Overall, it has been a positive experience. My mother seems well taken care of and from what I can see the staff is kind and friendly. There have been some staff, particularly [name removed], who has gone above and beyond for my mother. I do feel communication is spotty. I have written some emails and left calls to the new director that have gone unanswered. I do think the director is trying hard to provide activities for the staff and has recently hired an activities director which I appreciate. I also sincerely appreciate that they have kept my mom safe during this pandemic. Given that for many family members this is a difficult time, not being able to come in to visit our loved ones or to bring them home, I think that there needs to be more consistent communication.

We chose this community becasue of the location, the cleanliness, and the promises made. The room sizes are not bad, shes got her bed, TV, chair and a couple of tables. My mother actaually eats and she likes the food, no complaints. They have been very cautious with COVID. The memory care is expensive. When they were able to get out, they would be able to get them out and take them on trips, play music, do exercise classes and other activities.

Immediately felt like The Hearth was a home. There was a staff’s dog in reception, fireplace ablaze, oldies music playing, nooks and crannies to read and rest. Going back to have full tour because [name removed] and I connected so well we chatted away an hour. I give 4 stars but expect to raise it to 5 after the full tour. ;)

I moved to the Hearth 4yrs ago as a completely independent resident. 4yrs later I am still a completely independent resident.I attribute much of that to the pleasant ,caring, hard working staff, the multiple and diverse activities(I learned to play poker here and win often enough to smile!).The ever present and attentive nursing and aide staff which i observe and acknowledge often maintenance issues are being addressed on an ongoing schedule ,so that there are frequent updates on what is next and when it will happen.I never feel that I don't know what is going to be the next great change. The administrative staff is cheerful, helpful and understanding and downtown is a walk(20min )or 3min ride away.Transportation is available to local medical facilities, stores etc.Housekeeping is provided on a weekly basis and 3 meals / day plus snacks are available.I am happy only because there is active resident.Always rooms for improvement
