We toured Sunrise of Scottsdale, their Memory Care Unit was on the second floor. Also, there was no green or grassy area for residents. They did have a patio, but it was concrete. Also, the smell in the Memory Care was awful. It was like they were using a dirty sponge on all the surfaces and it just kind of gave off a dirty vibe.
I toured this facility and it was fine. It was a little more older looking (internally) than I was looking for.

Response from Sunrise of Scottsdale
January 26, 2023Hi Linda, Thank you for the wonderful things you said about Sunrise of Scottsdale and the dedicated care givers and team members. Our residents are part of the Sunrise family and we take enormous pride in having the privilege to take care of them.
Our experience here wasn't a good one, I'm not sure how much of it was due to Covid, but either way it wasn't great. Three days after moving my loved one in to this place, there was a Covid outbreak and the residents were confined to their rooms. My loved one eventually got Covid also. Upon moving her in, they brought her Call Watch (help button) to her, but no one from the care team came to greet her. There were supposed to be Laundry and Shower schedules, but I did her laundry for the first two weeks and there was no shower or schedule. It was just bad timing and we were very disappointed with our experience. She's at home with us now. I'm really not sure if I'd recommend this facility to family and friends.

January 25, 2023Hi Jill, We’re sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience. We care deeply about the safety and well-being of our residents and staff. Please contact us at information@sunriseseniorliving.com so that we can learn more. –The Sunrise Team
We went with Sunrise of Scottsdale because of the overall atmosphere of the facility and the fact that everyone here is very friendly. It feels much more like home and less like a business. If I could give the staff more than a 5 I would, they have been outstanding. If there is any issue they pick up the phone and call you. I live on the other side of the country so that means a lot to me especially. They have a variety of room sizes, my dad is in one of the bigger ones but they do have something that will suit anybody's needs. I would absolutely recommend them to others.

Response from Sunrise of Scottsdale
May 17, 2022Hi Customer, It is delightful to hear that you have been satisfied with the personalized support provided to your loved one by Sunrise of Scottsdale. Our team members share a common goal of enriching every resident’s life by carefully listening to their needs and always delivering the very best. Thank you! – The Sunrise Team
Most of the care givers and other residents here are really nice. The activities director is awesome and really good to work with but I do wish at times there were more activities that I would be interested in. Sometimes they do not have enough care givers here so the response time is slower, that could be a big improvement. I also wish they would listen to the residents more often at times.

Response from Sunrise of Scottsdale
May 17, 2022Hi Customer! Thank you for the wonderful things you said about Sunrise of Scottsdale. We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review!
We chose Sunrise of Scottsdale because of the location as well as the room that was available that she would get. She has a 2 bedroom and she is very happy with the size and layout of it. The management really gives you a sense of caring. I would definitely recommend to others looking.

The community is smaller than other communities so i feel the residents get more attention. The community is kept neat and clean and I would recommend this community to others based on my experience.

The staff members and the care services are above 5 stars, we are very happy with the community and it's activities. The value for cost for our family has worked out great. We looked at a bunch of other communities and this was had a much more home styled setting to it.

The value for is excellent, however they could use some improvement when it comes to their response times. Sometimes when our loved one pushes her help light button it can take 30 minutes to an hour or even longer for someone to come and assist,

Facility was nice but rooms were too small for me and my wife. If I was looking for just memory care for my wife I might consider.

Our loved one moved into assisted living ++ which meant more care then your typical assisted living. The community has always been clean, the place and people are incredible, they are so wonderful five stars is not enough for them. They have stayed right on top of covid testing everybody and making sure to keep the safety of the residents as a top priority. We could not be happier our loved one is more engaged at this facility and actually getting involved in things and with other residents.

We had a virtual tour and the rooms were very nice with a great view and a patio. At the time though it just didn't fit our needs.
We have been so pleased, and from what we are able to see of the community it is spotless. The staff members are great, friendly, helpful and have great communication. Every time we call they have an answer from us, or reply back to us with an email. Our loved one is thriving there, and when we do see her she is always clean, hair done and wearing clean clothes.

The care is fabulous and don't waste your time looking at any place else, we looked and there is no where better to live. The residents are friendly and happy. The food is excellent with variety offer and room service if needed. The caregivers are just very loving and I have never seen such care and love. They are able to work with the residents at their level and encourage them to follow through with things they need to do. They just did everything in the world to help calm my mother and support her to be comfortable. Sunrise has a clean and pleasant smell through out the building, It is very beautiful and welcoming and it is set up in a homey manner. It really was just a beautiful experience there.

I toured several places and the thing I liked best about Sunrise was the community size. It is small, not hotel like and sterile. The common areas are decorated warmly and there is a lot to do. The staff want the residents to get dressed every day and come to the dining room for all of their meals, which I thought was good for my grandmother. They encourage the residents to be active and participate in activities as well. I ate breakfast there with my grandmother every morning, and the food was good. but service takes a while and I found that my grandmother had to learn to be patient.

This is the most fabulous place ever! The #1 reason is the staff that without exception are incredible human beings. They are loving, caring and are very attentive and friendly. Their attitude spreads throughout the premises to, most importantly include the residents and even the visitors. It’s magic! (If we could only make the world this friendly and agreeable...) The appearance of Sunrise at Scottsdale is extremely inviting from the initial view to the finest detail. There are lots of interesting activities going on throughout the day. The food is VERY good and varied. Each resident is treated as an individual and their wants and needs are met and exceeded, To be perfectly honest, in the beginning, it was a tough emotional transition for our loved one. The move from her own home was scary for her but even with 24/7 home care this was a completely necessary move. However, after a few months she loves it here. Very honestly, there is not a single thing that is not wonderful about Sunrise. We look forward to moving there ourselves some day!

I have looked at many places while trying to find a place for my loved one. This facility’s staff team is just wonderful. Their care team has enough skill and it seems that they are using a system that’s efficient to where they can get you what you need. When I came in with my loved one, they sat her down and talked to her for an hour and a half. I thought that this was pretty cool because they made a conscious effort to try and connect with her, I find this very important. The executive director is always on the premises. Every time that I visit the entire staff would come up to me and tell me everything that is going on with my loved one. They are very communicative and I like how they always keep me in the know of what issues that may transpire. I would recommend this place because I myself feel safe knowing that my loved one is getting the care that she needs and she is happy as well.
