Oakmont of San Jose is a wonderful community and the communication is mostly good. Sometimes there are lapses in communication, but they are still very good to work with. They're taking good care of mom and she's treated with dignity. Communication is provided via phone call for special concerns, and through email for facility wide information. For example: there was a Covid outbreak on the assisted living side, but not in the memory care unit; so some things were altered within the community. The overall director left, and they sent out an email regarding that as well. Some of their activities include exercise with music, bingo, family feud-like games, movies, walks, and musical guests who come in and entertain the residents. Memory care is totally separate and is located on the first floor, behind locked doors. You can came come in, but cant come out unless you are let out. They do have some wanderers, so that extra security is a good thing. There's around 30 memory care residents (give or take), and they have a good staff to resident ratio. Overall I would absolutely recommend Oakmont of San Jose to others.... Read more

This community was very nice this was a close second for me. I liked what they had to say and what all I saw at this community.
This tour was good, we were referred by someone we knew that was close with the tour guide. This community was fine but there was no outdoor courtyard. This was one of the first places we toured for our loved one.
This was a nice community just not as nice of a building as we were looking for. The leadership was great and the tours were awesome this just did not work out for my loved one.
The meals overall are pretty good and when we speak to our parents they seem to really enjoy the activities they have going on. The community is very clean, they like the location and for them the value for cost is worth it.
Response from Oakmont of San Jose
December 19, 2021Dear anonymous, Your positive review means so much to us and we're so happy to have earned it. Thank you again for taking the time to let others know about your positive experience. Have a great day!
I have to admit 5 years ago I was drawn to Oakmont by the gorgeous facility, with its beautiful courtyard, high ceilings with huge windows and bathrooms designed for senior with roll in showers, beautiful dining facility with gourmet meals. But after 5 years what has kept us here is the people, both residents and staff. The community size is ideal— small enough that the residents are not only neighbors, but friends. Moms caregivers are just the most wonderful caring people that know and treat her like family. The dining room servers are just amazing, not only serve food, but companionship, and watch out for the residents. The activity director is just wonderful, caring, engaging, knows how to work with seniors. The Healthcare director is really outstanding (I’m a healthcare professional) and the Executive Director really knows every job in senior care first hand and has made outstanding hires. I couldn’t be happier with my choice for senior care for my 91 year old mother!
This organization offers the tops in innovative senior care in terms of care services, encouraging community connections, social activities and entertainment. The staff works together to make sure that the seniors are responsive, involved, and are enjoying a life of exceptional quality. The food is 5-star, as are the care services, activities, and entertainment offerings. The grounds offer outdoor spaces to gather and enjoy.
My mother lives here. For over two months she has had no access to a working dryer. For the very high rent paid at Oakmont surely they can provide working appliances.
The community is kept very clean, it would be a 10 plus. We were able to eat a meal there with our loved one, it was a oven made pizza and it was very good. Speaking with other residents they also seem to enjoy the food. They are trying their best to do different activities like cooking demonstrations so the residents can bake. they have music activities, and we do know they keep them very busy especially in the memory care unit. They also coordinate very well with the hospice team, they are incredible and anytime we have questions they get answered. Every time we see our loved one she looks great, they are taking good care of her and even though it was very expensive we can walk away knowing the money is being put to good use.
[Name removed] helped me and was very helpful and informative. Price was high. Facility was nice.
If you are the perfect memory care patient this may be the place for you. If you fail to fit in the box things can become difficult and expensive such as 24 hour individual care. If you want to leave know that they do not refund very much of community deposit at all. Look elsewhere dementia changes but their answer is make you pay more
I had recently taken a tour of this community for my self and I have no complaints of how things had went. The staff where on time to our appointment and and made sure to answer any questions I had for them in detail. I was pleased with how clean everything was and the open floor plan they had available to all the residents. They had a nice activity program as well menu selection for the dinning room. It was just not the right fit for me in the end decision but I would recommend it to anyone.
My brother is doing very well since moving into this community. He has been improving much better and settling in very well. I have no no complaints for now. Housekeeping is doing a good job keeping up with his room. His room has more than adequate space and cozy feel. He likes that he is in a familiar neighborhood.
My parents are pleased with the staff at this new community. They have been welcoming and helpful. The community is well done and decorated. The maintenance is great. The food is great and the dining room is open from seven to seven. They offer a lot of activities. This is a smaller community and I would recommend it.
