About the facility
Nashoba Park Assisted Living

Nashoba Park Assisted Living is a Volunteers of America Massachusetts Senior Community, professionally managed by Senior Living Residences of Braintree, MA.

At Nashoba Park, residents have their choice of private studio and one-bedroom apartments and enjoy a variety of beautifully furnished community areas, including a Sunroom, Country Kitchen and spacious landscaped courtyard and patio. We are also conveniently located near several shops, restaurants and banks clustered along Main Street. Our wide array of EnrichedLIFE experiences and adventures including social, cultural, and wellness events, as well as on-site exercise, cooking and art classes, keep residents active and engaged. Our assisted living community also features an award-winning dining program based on the well-researched Mediterranean diet, a full range of supportive services and many amenities at reasonable monthly rates.

Nashoba Park is a renovation of the former Community Memorial Hospital, built in 1928. Nestled in the heart of the Historic District on the hilltop just above downtown Ayer, we are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The hospital building was completely restored and updated with a two-story addition creating a new entry, reception area, community room, living rooms, library, dining room, country kitchens, sunrooms, Country Store, Beauty Salon / Barber Shop and a fully enclosed courtyard with a fountain. The original brick façade boasts ornamental lintels of locally quarried stone above large windows, as well as decorative wood cornice. The interior design evokes a historic feel throughout with brass fixtures and warm tones of green and terracotta.

Nashoba Park offers a short-term and trial stay option that includes all the services and amenities available to our permanent residents. Our trial stay program has no minimum length – so your loved one can stay for as short or as long as they like to decide if Nashoba Park is the right fit.

They even got on gluten free food for my brother, who was gluten-free. My brother was there for two months and the staff must have been great to him because he had to make sure he said goodbye to housekeeping, nurses, the dining room, staff, and all others. They had many activities and the facility was always spotless. Everyone was always friendly to visitors.

Great staff, and effort is made for a good experience. But all the systems are archaic, and being a ‘historic building’ makes improvements more complicated. And it’s hard to evaluate anything during a pandemic!

Response from Nashoba Park Assisted Living
January 17, 2022
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of touring Methuen Village. While I'm glad that all of your questions were answered by our team, I have to respectfully disagree with some of your claims. Our community comfortably accommodates 95 residents, and we are proud to foster a close-knit family of ?residents, associates, neighbors and friends. I also want to mention that our Housekeeping Department is made up of some of the most hardworking professionals I have ever worked with, and they continue to keep our community beautiful, clean and safe. ?If we can ever assist you or your loved one in the future, you are always welcome to reach out. - Kimberly Gagnon, Executive Director, Nashoba Park

Pleased!
They have done really well with the Covid-19 pandemic and have done a really good job with keeping families up to date on what's doing on. They took precautions early on and stepped up to make sure they were protecting the residents. A little bit of staff turnover recently. We always found the community to be very clean when we visit. They are very conscientious about serving well balanced meals. Overall, we would recommend Nashoba Park to others!

Response from Nashoba Park Assisted Living
December 16, 2020
Throughout 2020, which has been difficult for all of us due to the pandemic, we believe our team successfully stayed focused on our core values and mission to support, care for and boost the spirits of the seniors who call Nashoba Park their home. Our collective efforts have been rewarded in droves by the love and constant support of our residents and their families, including you! We are so happy that Assisted Living residents and staff have been included in the first round of vaccinations in MA. Our families will rest even easier knowing their loved ones are living in the VERY safest of places for the foreseeable future! Of course, we will continue to follow all public health directives concerning social distancing and mask wearing, as well as our own robust safety protocols, including screening, testing and sanitizing until it is absolutely safe to discontinue these measures.

Lots of community gathering areas throughout the building some with full kitchens for group cooking or family gatherings to warm up a meal. Tables great for playing cards etc. Staff very friendly. Residents are happy there. downside: resident rooms seem a bit small. ok for 1 person but not so much for a couple. No transportation to churches, no transportation provided for doctor visits.

Prices increase every year.
My mom is happy there but every year the price goes up. It's hard to change your parent once they get accustomed to a place and I think they know that. There has been quite a turnover in staff recently.

My mom seems very happy. I was concerned about her finding her way to the dining room. She had only been there for a few days and she was told that she could find her way. It isn't a clear path but she did it. She is enjoying the meal.

Nashoba Park Assisted Living offers Studio and 1 Bedroom. Learn more.

A Place for Mom has scored Nashoba Park Assisted Living 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
