About the community

Merrill Gardens at Bankers Hill gives discerning seniors a casual elegance and sophistication found only in the prestigious Bankers Hill neighborhood of downtown San Diego. Downtown retirement living has never been this good — or as much fun — as it can be at Merrill Gardens!

Merrill Gardens at Bankers Hill is just a short stroll from fine dining, quaint Victorian homes and Balboa Park. Symphony Hall and the Civic Theater are also nearby, and the community is just minutes from top-ranked physicians, clinics and hospitals. Our rooftop deck offers views of the ocean and city, and the apartments are spacious. Most have full kitchens, balconies, washers and dryers.

And while the community is second to none, the residents who choose to live here make the community truly unique. Residents take advantage of the salon, bistro, fitness center, multiple gathering spaces, secure underground parking and landscaped courtyard areas.

Comfortable living environment!

I had recently taken a tour of this community for my mother and I have no complaints of how things had went. The staff made sure to answer any questions we had for them and did a nice job withe presentation. The dinning room was spacious and they even offered for us to try one of there meals. It was just not the right location for us in the end decision.

Loved this facility also. It is within walking distance to Balboa Park and within a taxi/Uber ride to Downtown San Diego. The rooms are spacious. I like all the amenities the place offers. The staff is very friendly. [Removed] were excellent ambassadors for the place. I would definitely keep this place on my short list. The only two caveats I have are that the place is on the expensive side, and the décor is not "contemporary/modern." It feels and looks like a traditional retirement home--a trivial matter when one looks at the whole picture.
