I liked the community; however, they weren't able to provide care or accept my loved one.

Response from Harvester Place
January 11, 2023Thank you for your review and feedback. There is always room for improvement and we appreciate hearing what is going well and where we can improve. I will review this with our team.
Harvester Place is a really nice place. My dad likes it and seems to be adjusting well. He's made some friends. I have monthly meetings with the therapy team, and they let me know how he's doing - if he's eating, how his therapy is going, things like that. It seems like sometimes when I come to visit, it's a reminder that he can't come home, and he gets angry. But other than that, he's doing well. They are very kind to him. He's been cooperative with them and allowing their help. And I am pleased with his care.
Response from Harvester Place
November 9, 2022Michelle, thank you for your wonderful review. I am happy that you chose Harvester Place as your dad's new "home". We love having him as part of our Harvester family. Adjusting to a new community can be a difficult time for both our residents and their loved ones. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help make the adjustment easier.
Harvester Place was my 2nd choice. I really liked them a lot. It had a very similar feel to the place we chose. The difference was the setup of the rooms. Harvester Place had a Jack and Jill bathroom shared with a neighbor. Having a loved one with more advanced dementia, I was concerned she would be confused about which room was hers when exiting the bathroom. They had other layouts, but that was the only one available at the time.

October 26, 2022Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that our community did not work out for you and your loved one. We understand that there is a right fit for everyone and I wish you the very best. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do for you in the future.
We toured with Harvester Place and had a great experience. The tour was thorough and the staff did a great job with following up with us after the fact. We just found another facility to be better laid out for our loved ones needs.
Response from Harvester Place
October 11, 2022Thank you for your review. I am happy that you had a chance to see Harvester Place. We are very proud of our community and the longevity of our team members. There is a right fit for everyone and I am glad that you found yours. If you ever need anything else, please feel free to reach out. I'd be happy to help in anyway we can.
Our family had an in person tour and we really liked this community, the person who took us on the tour [name removed] was super and spent a lot of time with us. She educated us on different stages and level of care. The location is very close to us, but due to our loved ones "behavior" we were denied.
We chose Harvester Place because I liked the layout of the facility, we heard the food was good, and the staff were super friendly. We also liked that it strictly focused on memory care. I would recommend to others families looking.

Our contact was [name removed]. We setup a meet/greet/tour and at reception area signed in through Kiosk which also took our temperature in line with COVID procedures. Upon arriving we found the parking lot very spacious and clean - the area is right off of the expressway and surrounded by trees. The lobby was clean an odor free - a part of the lobbby is currently setup for family visits (2 family members at a time). After our discussion with [name removed] in her office she walked us outside around the facility to show us not only the surrounding area but we also wanted to look into rooms and activity areas that due to COVID we couldn't do inside. On our walk we were able to see residents watching TV in the activity area and got a glimpse of the courtyard also available to residents to stroll weather permitting and other outdoor activities. Upon returning to [name removed]'s office we watched a video tour that highlighted more closer each area, safety walking railings were along the hallway and in washrooms, we were happy to see that the rooms have private motion detectors (no cameras) that beep at the nurses station to alert when a resident is up and about (mostly needed at night), also [name removed] noted that the staff is awake 24/7 on 8 hour shifts and do not sleep while residents sleep. Security seems good here as well with staff having a fob key to enter and exit the facility's security doors. Each room has a closet as well and a washroom (cabinets are locked). There is a Jack/Jill room where only the washroom is shared. Then there is a combined room where literally two people sleep and share a room. We were shown a sample menu to see their weekly meals. This site also has 3 activity assistants (music therapy, rosary, piano player to name a few) once a month is movie night. One caregive to 8 residents; visits are setup through Genius link that families link to schedule a visit. Harvester Place also has a pharmacy plan through medication management partners. [name removed] showed us a sample of how medicines are sorted by each resident's daily meds (breakfast, lunch, dinner in separate little bags), however, for a fee a resident could have the nurse sort their pills. There is also a Dr. available on staff that also makes weekly visits. This facility is associated with Hinsdale hospital. Additional fees for this facility are like other facilities which include a move-in fee, incontinence care program $400, and any pharmacy co-pays or outings.

The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They took great care of our friend. They were very accommodating, and on short notice they were able to find him a spot and take really good care of him. They emailed us once a week with updates on the Covid situation. And they did arrange for outdoor social distancing meetings after a while, when visits inside were not feasible. I would definitely recommend Harvester Place.

The food is good. I would recommend them to a friend. The room sizes and layout are good. They have an outdoor space for the residents. The staff is good at getting back to me if I have any questions. They have been good at setting up times to visit.

The leadership and staff are excellent. The facility is kept up very well. My observation is that the residents are happier than in other facilities I have visited. There are only 2 issues I wish to note. The employee “filming” incident should have been handled better. Specifically, while there will always be bad people/employees, HP should have been much more transparent to both the families of residents as well as the general public. Regarding the COVID issue, the lack of transparency directed by Anthem Corporate was misguided and disastrous for your reputation. Most people would have been understanding of the situation as they know the leadership at HP is tremendous. However, it is the local employees who have had their reputations tarnished by this situation. I hope the PR firm, lawyers and corporate executives who advocated this policy are terminated for gross incompetence and abject stupidity.

My mother-in-law has resided at Harvester Place for over two years. She has Dementia, and has become progressively worse. The care she has received has been outstanding. They not only care for the body, but the mind. We, as her family, are kept apprised of her condition. This has been especially important during these past several months while we've been going through the Covid-19 pandemic. Mom's been having trouble dealing with not seeing anyone, and phone calls seem to agitate her. Everyone in the family calls her, but she doesn't seem to understand why we're not coming to see her. It's a difficult time. I really appreciate all the caring the people at Harvester provide for her.

I moved my aunt into Harvester a little over a year ago. Her best friend was already there and we were able to get their suites next to each other! The first several months, my aunt had a lot of medical needs and trips back and forth to the hospital and rehab and then back to Harvester. The staff was amazing with both my aunt and helping me to navigate this new territory for me! They communicated continually with myself and the hospital and rehab center so the transitions for my aunt went smoothly. When she returned to Harvester, it was definitely a 'homecoming' and all the staff welcomed her back and helped her to adjust. The atmosphere there is very open, friendly, caring and loving. I am extremely happy with Harvester!

I moved Mom to Harvester Place on [date removed], from another facility in the northern suburbs. I liked the spaciousness of the layout at Harvester - especially the living room/dining room area, which is filled with natural light during the daytime, thanks to the wonderful skylights. Move-in day was a breeze, thanks to the many staff members at Harvester who helped get Mom's things set up. A few glitches in the following months gave me cause for concern, but they were quickly straightened out by the director, [name removed]. Seven months on, I am so glad I chose Harvester for Mom. They kept in touch with me all through my Mom's battle with Covid, letting me talk to her on the phone whenever I asked, and so on. I am no convinced that Mom is getting the highest possible level of care at Harvester Place. More than that - she's getting love.

[Name removed] was so professional, polite and spend so much time answering all of our questions — in addition, the entire staff was so friendly and engaging with the residents. Very modern and new. Spacious. Some high tech features, like motion detection, keep residents safe while less intrusive.

When researching memory care facilities for my mother this week, Harvester Place was among my top choices . I loved the cheerful rooms and the bright long hallways that would be great for my mom to do her daily walking. The common areas for the seniors reminded me of a pulling over to a homey restaurant while driving home. Price wise it actually lower than our final choice which we had to make only because of location to our home. But if I lived closer in Burr Ridge I would have chosen Harvest without hesitation.
