The staff is very friendly and caring. They have been able to answer our questions and help us get all care organized. Response from Gilman Park Assisted Living
April 28, 2023Hi, We are happy to hear our staff are providing a friendly and warm environment for your loved one. Thank you for taking time to share your experience.
Our family had an in person tour with Gilman Park Assisted Living and they seem to go through facility directors every six months or so. We didn't feel that the tour guide was as knowledgeable as he could have been.

The tour person was awesome and wonderful. It was a grat place. The residents were nice. The distance was too far, and it needed a little updating.

October 4, 2022We are so happy to hear you had such an enjoyable experience on your recent tour with us. We take pride in treating each resident with care while providing a comfortable atmosphere for residents to call home.
This really is the place for you if you like your food to have salt, sugar, and/or fat. They serve a lot of it and they don't give many options. But aside from food issues, it's the turnover, the lack of concern, the general attitude by many who work there. Lately a few new hires have the compassion and integrity you would love to see at a place like this. Unfortunately for my friend, too little too late. So little care. For her, it was Gilman Park very little assisted living. We had such high hopes but some of the med techs would rather be on their phones than help clients. Huge turnover in employees. A lot of good ones left.

Response from Gilman Park Assisted Living
August 5, 2022We appreciate you taking the time to review us, despite the fact that we weren’t able to provide the best experience. Your remarks will be shared with the team.
It seems like it was a good place. It just wasn't a good fit for my loved one. She was a fall risk, and one of the nurses called me and said it wasn't safe for my loved one to stay there anymore. The outside of the building was really nice, but I wasn't able to go inside to visit. My loved one told me she loved the people there, and that the food was okay. She just loved everybody there. When we moved her things out, all the people we saw said "Oh, I remember her! We loved her. She got along great here!" It was a perfectly good place for her until it wasn't anymore. The nurses really did care. When she fell, they took her to the emergency room. The hospital didn't immediately admit her and didn't want to put her in a rehab center. So they sent her back to Gilman Park. That's when the nurse said she wasn't safe there, that she needed more care and needed more of an eye on her. I appreciated that the nurses were honest with me about her care. Every time I emailed the nurse, she emailed me right back with updates. One thing I wish I had known before I signed the contract with them was that they require you to use their drug supply company, Consonus. Before moving in, we were getting her meds for free or very low cost per month, and all of a sudden we had a considerable monthly cost for all her prescriptions, as well as any non-prescription things she might or might not need, like laxatives and cold medicines. If there was an alternative, I didn't see it when we signed up.
I would recommend checking out this community. Gilman Park was very clean. They did have a great dining area. They had an outdoor area for the residents. The handy man was able to assist my loved one, when requested.

Short staffed Care services nit provided. I pay too much money for my love on to be there. Went to the new ED, she had no idea how to solve my concerns. I am looking to move my love one out.

My mother is a resident at Gilman Park for 8 years. She lived a full life and had some ups and downs at Gilman Park, until I met [name removed]. What a fire cracker she is, full of life and full of energy. Very compassion about the quality of life that each residents deserves at Gilman Park. I visited my mother quite often either during the week or during the weekend, this lady is always there. The community looks clean and fresh, residents looks good and happy, lots of laughter and socialization. When Covid-19 hit the state of Oregon, [name removed] did not back down, but in full gear of making sure that my mother was safe and all other residents of Gilman Park. I cannot tell you how I appreciate the hard work that this lady put forward to make sure my mom is safe, other residents and employees. [name removed], thank you, thank you so much for all the hard work, countless hours you spend at Gilman Park. It shows how great you are as person, an executive director and a role model for all. Thank you, Happy Family

Found the facility dark and very clinical looking. Room layout, especially location of the bathroom away from the bedroom was not ideal. Studios were smaller than I'd like. I found the common spaces dark. Prices good.

Friendly, caring staff. Everyone pitches in quickly to meet residents needs as they spot them. Sometimes the residents and/or visitors need to speak up so busy staff can recognise a need so they can help. Residents sometimes want to do a chore by themselves for which they need help/supervision for SAFETY sake. Those residents sometimes think they are imposing on staff. ie. Unsteady standing, walking, showering weak or elderly residents.

[Name removed] was welcoming, professional, knowledgeable and thorough in learning about my mother, touring the facility and answering my questions. Recent issues around staffing and employee satisfaction makes me unlikely to pursue this option at this time.

Gilman Park is a true gem nestled in a beautiful, historic community within Oregon City. My grandmother was a resident several years ago and had an overall great experience. When my sister and I were looking for a new facility for our mom, we decided to investigate Gilman to see if it was still up to the standards our grandmother had experienced. After touring the facility with their marketing director, [name removed], we were thoroughly impressed! The facility is clean, bright and welcoming. After meeting several staff, it was apparent they are very qualified for their roles and genuinely enjoy what they do. We wanted to move quickly since our mom was currently in a facility that was rapidly declining in care and safety. As a result, [name removed] moved the process very quickly for us and their administrator, [name removed], took the care and concern to ensure our mom's move in process went flawlessly. Currently, she has lived there a month and absolutely loves it! She raves about the activities, food and both the staff and residents. I have spoken to several residents as well and they all say the same thing which is even more reassuring. I can't tell you how much a relief it is to find a facility managed as well as Gilman! At this point, I am rating four stars since we are so new to the facility although will return with an update when my mom is more established, and a few months have passed.

June 20, 2018Deidra, thank you for your kind review. We're so happy your mom has found a home with us! She's already become a strong part of our community here :D If you have any further questions, please give us a call. We're always happy to help!
I have seen this community a few times for years and I nearly thought I was in the wrong place when I walked in today. The lobby is drop dead gorgeous, all of the staff are smiling and nice and welcoming. Last year I visited and the place was so sorry and messy. Everything is spotless and totally different now, the caregivers are fast and they aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. This community is right behind the hospital and Avamere!

April 13, 2018Thank you, N. Mason! That means a lot to us. We've made a lot of progress in the last year and our community keeps getting better every day :D Thanks again for taking the time to leave this review. Take care!
This community is wonderful, clean and warm. I know that this place has improved over the last few months due to a major overhaul by new administration. The community is just beautiful and there is an amazing overall difference between what was and what is now, wow. I am amazed at what a different place this is! Residents here are happy and now have great care.

April 13, 2018Thank you for your kind words! We're really proud of the progress we've made the the feedback we've been getting in the last few months :) Thanks again for the recommendation, and have an amazing day!
Just moved my mother out of this place. She had lived there for 4 years without any problems. A new corporate administrator is now in charge and the place has gone downhill. Many good staff were fired for unknown reasons, many are now quitting as well. The caregivers who are left are overworked and exhausted. Call lights can take up to an hour or more before answered. Talk to your local home health and hospice nurses for advice on good places for your loved one. Physical therapists as well. None I've spoken to would ever place a loved one here

April 24, 2017Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us at Gilman Park. We're happy we could meet your expectations! We hope to be of service to you again in the future. Best wishes, Gilman Park
When I went to see this community It almost reminded me of a nursing home. I saw a room and the carpets seemed dirty. It also had an odor. It didn't seem like a fit for us but the guy I spoke with was very nice.
