I'm pleased with most everything here, but we're having a bit of an issue at the moment with getting mom's vaccinations completed (ie flu, covid). We've been told a couple of times that it would be scheduled, but it hasn't yet. I plan to follow up with them again today. The Dr visits here seem to be rushed. But I was told he's there for short time periods and sees residents in all 3 buildings, so I can see why that is. Housekeeping and laundry are fairly good. The food looks very good, seems to be good quality. Communication with the family was good at first, but now I have to be the one to initiate contact with them. They're not proactive like they were at first. They do post Covid updates weekly, which we appreciate. It's nice to have that information when visiting (as far as how many tests were ran and negative/positive cases for the week). I would recommend them to family and friends.... Read more

The staff isn’t trained to understand dementia and that people with dementia wander and might press on the door to try to leave, as they are confused. I witnessed my father being yelled at more than once and at night when he wandered he was over-medicated so that they didn’t have to deal with him. This resulted in a fall and hospitalization. We had to hire [removed] to care for him after, as he was left alone in his room while he was weak and recovering. I was able to verify how overmedicated he was via a nurse. He was unable to shave and was never shaved while he was there. The food is terrible. We couldn’t get our dad out if there fast enough. He had gotten Covid and we had to wait until he was negative to move him to a place in Brighton that understands dementia and treated him like a human being, instead of like a prisoner. Most of the staff at Courtyard Manor was unhelpful and it was very difficult to get anyone over the phone. There were very few helpful employees.

I am grateful that we choose Courtyard Manor of Farmington Hills. My fathers health was on a much steeper decline than we realized. Not too many places would have been able to provide the quality of care at the level that Courtyard did, nor the range that was needed. I should also add that [name removed] from a place for mom was very helpful. Twice, actually. Highly recommend a conversation with [name removed] for anyone in Detroit area who has such a need.

I definitely do not recommend this facility, I moved my loved one out after she was hospitalized for a bad infection she got there after being neglected. It was very challenging to reach the staff. At one point, the nurse called me and I tried to call her back but could not reach her. I tried many times.

This residents are very well cared for and carefully watched at this community. This is a great memory community for your loved one. I have no problems with the staff and everyone is very polite and very caring with my loved one as well as me. The tour was great but upon the arrival there were some things that were not ready when my loved one got there. He had to lay in the bed a few days until everything arrived.

Our family had an in person tour and honestly we could not wait to leave. This was the most depressing place we have ever been to. We had two other friends come on the tour with us and they even agreed with how depressing and sad it was.
Courtyard Manor had an extremely hard working staff who were willing to deal with difficult situations. The everyday staff were very hands on and should be commended for their efforts. They tried their best to keep my loved one comfortable while they required an advanced level of care.

not anywhere near what we were expecting - everyone seeme drugged up and sleeing during lunch time
When we speak to our loved one they talk about how much they enjoys the meals and activities. In fact they even think they are in charge of the activities that's how much our loved one participates. Courtyard was the most reasonably priced out of the communities we looked at and we would recommend them to others.

I have already referred others to the community. The community was very helpful during the process of moving in. They have private and semi private rooms. There are lots of activities available. They have snacks all around the community with good healthy meals.

It is a great community. The community is clean, and well kept. I feel there isn't enough activities and this may be due to the pandemic. They don't allow weekend visits which makes it difficult for families to visit.

When my bright, alert, and mobile 98 year old mother, who was suffering from dementia first moved in, the care, food, amenties, etc., were not great, but seemed adequate. I found a much better facility, and got her on their waiting list, but two months later, while I was still waiting for a room to become available, when her dementia got worse at night, they quickly moved her from their showcase building (there are four) to one of the three not-so-nice ones, and had their on-call psychiatrist ([name removed]) prescribe powerful psychotropic drugs without ever seeing her, and without my permission, even though I had POA for her health care. Within 24 hours, she turned into an unresponsive zombie who was just propped up in a recliner chair, and slept all day. She could no longer walk or feed herself, and the staff did little to help her. She passed away a few weeks later, and to this day I deeply regret that I didn't take her out of there before it was too late. If you truly care for your beloved family member, keep looking!

Terrible facility. Management did not train caretakers at all. Supervisors were never available on weekends. High turnover rate for all employees. Many caretakers were mean and lazy. Found my mother sleeping in urine soaked sheets too many times. Facilities are old and in poor condition. Toilets overflow, air conditioning goes out, heat goes out, fire alarms blast for hours, gutters are filled with weeds. My mother was not supervised properly and often fell out of her wheelchair. Caretakers dropped her several times sending her to the hospital.

Very poorly run place. Management doesn't train or motivate caretakers. Many are mean, lazy and incapable of caring for elderly patients. High turnover rate for all types of employees. Facilities are old and in very poor condition. Toilets overflow, gutters are full of weeds, air conditioning goes out, heat goes out, fire alarms blast for hours. Incredible! Not enough caretakers for the number of patients. My loved one was not supervised properly and fell from her wheelchair many times. Staff didn't lift her properly and dropped her several times sending her to emergency room with gashes and bruises. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

The facility staff is abusive towards residents. Ive seen residents be pushed and tugged aggressively. Ive seen residents fall and left on the floor unassisted. When the family questions what happened the staff nor management is ever able to provide a explanation but they file false incident reports with a full story of what happened. They tell you they are looking into it but never come back with answers

My husband has been here for some time and now he is doing fine. The staff improved with the behavior from my husband. With the improvement, it helps to keep in contact with the staff to ensure they are on top of it.

Lack of training and respect from carestaff, nursing, and activities department. Upper management seems to not care about anything besides the $ and screwing over their staff. Carestaff is very rude towards family members and staff.

It was a nice community to tour and the staff and residents were nice when meeting them. The community had a larger setting for the residents. A smaller facility was a better choice. The person who gave tour was on time and gave me their full attention.

This facility is larger, but quiet and clean. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. There's a great courtyard where residents can safely sit and enjoy the outdoors. There's a wide variety of activities to suite everyone's needs.
