Coterie Memory Care is the perfect place for my sister. I have watched her settle in, feel secure in a beautiful environment. My highest praise goes to directors and staff. Exceptional leadership and communication by the directors show the way. All are competent, compassionate, skillfully caring for each resident, their unique needs and behaviors. It is clear they how much they care. I see this daily. They not only care for the residents but also for their families. It was so difficult when my sister was diagnosed with dementia, difficult to understand and to know how to handle. Their actions and words are teaching us. Monthly support groups add needed advice and experience sharing. My family is learning how to be with our loved one, how best to respond to her. Administrators and Directors are visible, accessible, responsive. When I had a concern, they really listened. We worked together for the benefit of all. Unfortunately, our family recently had to place my mother into a residential care facility which featured a memory care unit. With the help of an agent, we were directed to three different facilities. Although the other two residences provided viable options, once we entered the Coterie property, we were greeted by the staff as if we were checking in at a four star hotel. The property itself has the feel of a luxury hotel with the three restaurant options, full bar and movie theater. Our collective opinion after the tour of Coterie was when can we as an entire family move in. We quickly decided to place my mom at Coterie, and the staff made our mother’s placement seamless. As stated previously, the amenities at Coterie our first class, but in reality, our primary goal was to place my mother in a community where she could thrive with a dedicated staff. Coterie exceeded our expectations with the exceptional staff in the memory care unit who have made her feel like she’s never left home.

We are extremely satisfied with the involvement of all Coterie management levels (Executives, Directors, and staff members at all levels/shifts) in caring for my sister and augmenting our knowledge as caregivers. My sister joined the Coterie Cathedral Hill Memory Care community on [date removed] I visited her over 40 times at different hours of the day, primarily during meals. The Memory Care directors and staff encourage everyone and they actively participate during meals, in exercise classes , and various entertainment and educational activities to maximize community satisfaction. We also appreciate the monthly support group meetings; primarily the opportunity to interact and learn from Coterie management and the other caregivers. Lastly, we are thankful for the overall quality of Coterie care, their dedicated management efforts that justify our investment; and knowing that my sister is contented.

Our mom, who has advance Alzheimer's Disease, is living at Coterie Cathedral Hill and is lovingly cared for by a staff who are authentic, attentive, creative, and respectful. The caregivers at Coterie continually provide creative ways to engage memory care residents with art, music, exercise, conversation, and movies throughout the day. The guided activities can provide a natural sense of belonging and inclusion which frees the residents to interact with their current abilities. They take the time to get to know each resident and are skilled at using personal relationships to manage the moods and inevitable changes that accompany dementia. As a family member who lives in another state, I'm grateful to the Memory Care Director for her willingness to provide open communication. She is available for questions and updates, and facilitates phone/FaceTime opportunities for me and my mom. Coterie Cathedral Hill is a silver lining in life with Alzheimer's.

Words cannot express our deepest appreciation for all the care and support the director of the memory care provides our mother. Her professionalism is matched only by her willingness to go the extra mile to insure our mother receives all she needs as she enters this very vulnerable stage of her life. Her kind and compassionate demeanor constantly reminds us of how fortunate our mother is to be in such a safe and nurturing environment. She is always available with kind and comforting words and assurances that our mother is being well taken care of. We really appreciate all the creative activities our mother enjoys as a resident of Coterie.

Coterie Cathedral Hill has been nothing but excellent. Moving mom to memory care was one of the hardest decisions our family has had to make. Every Coterie employee (any level, any job) has been warm and helpful. The Memory Care Director is exceptional - responsive, experienced, and professional. She is kind and caring to me, my family, and mom. Her values are represented in her amazing staff and I am so grateful to all of them.

I am exceedingly pleased with my experience here at Coterie senior living. I underwent two complicated surgeries in 2022 and required extensive care. As a career woman most of my life (a PhD psychologist and MD surgeon), I found adapting to dependency very challenging. But the quality of care available here made it far easier. Coterie has managed to hire very competent and caring staff at all levels, despite the post-pandemic paucity of candidates. The care giver staff provide warm, respectful and individualized care. The directors, particularly the top Directors, put the best interests of the residents at the forefront of their decision making. I find this unusual for a for-profit entity. There is much opportunity for open communication between management and residents, which facilitates accommodation to individual concerns. Fine food is served by kind, considerate dining staff. Coterie also provides a rich cultural environment and community to enjoy. I love it here. Just do it!

Coterie Cathedral Hill is all about the people: while the focus is 100% on the residents, it's hard to believe the teams could be so successful without the care and attention provided to them by their leadership. [name removed] is one example of a leader who has undertaken intense and emotionally charged challenge of leading the Memory Care floor. In her role, she has demonstrated an exceptional willingness to serve. Together with [name removed] and [name removed], [name removed] has quickly learned to navigate the stresses from a wide range of memory care issues, not the least of which is working positively with family members, like me.

I had the pleasure of touring Coterie Cathedral hill for a relative and was very impressed by the beautiful building and the friendly, efficient and cordial staff. Feels more like a 5-star hotel than a retirement community. Would definitely consider!

In November, I suffered a serious fall, compromising my mobility severely. Returning to my apartment to live alone after leaving the hospital was not possible. After investigating several places, my family selected Coterie for my recovery experience. I had not even visited before I arrived there for what was to be a ten-week stay. The staff and residents are friendly, warm, and caring Within two days, it seemed that everyone who worked there greeted me by name. The facilities are beyond immaculate. The food, available continuously from 7:00 am till past 7:30 pm is varied , delicious and graciously provided by servers who respond to every request by saying either "absolutely" or "of course". Mercedes cars are available to go to a doctor appointment or the theatre. I attribute my present well being to the nurturing care I received at Coterie. The many activities, and excursions mean you do not need assisted living support to enjoy living at Coterie.

The whole place was astonishing, the moment you enter the place, you can definitely feel the luxurious vibe, this is not your typical assisted living. The rooms, the services and staff all exceeded my expectations. Every corner a staff would ask me if I needed help, i was taken aback for a moment then. Thank you so much for all you do, I plan on moving my parents here, and will surely do as well when I myself require more level of care in the future. Highly recommended!

The best thing Coterie offers is the flexibility to stay for short or long term and was the main reason I toured the property. I saw the pictures online and was amazed by the looks. The most important thing for me was a place that feels homey and easy to transition to, and I was served just that. There's a wide variety of activities to do all day and keep me engaged and probably the most extensive live music entertainment. The food quality and variety provided are absolutely mind-blowing compared to industry standards, and residents input is a priority when making menu changes. Being low-maintenance on care at the moment I was still impressed by the all-encompassing level of care provided.

Response from Coterie Cathedral Hill
December 12, 2022Hi Isaac, It is our pleasure to give you a tour and to support you in the senior living search. We are proud to deliver top-quality service and to put first the older adults who we serve. Looking forward to speaking with you again soon.
I visited this gorgeous facility. The food was delicious, there were interesting activities and, the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Coterie San Francisco is the best community I visited that truly felt more like a luxury resort hotel

Champagne salesmanship with a Budweiser experience. Overall, I feel completely duped by the advertising and the show of this new senior facility. Particularly the memory care... Which consistently is Left out, behind and least thought of not to mention understaffed. Well the facility itself is clean, the care given to residents is not clean. Showers are rare and while my loved one is going through an infection has barely been washed every third day. When it comes to bandages or injuries, it is next to Impossible to get any help. Even applying Neosporin requires doctor's orders and when done is better to have your own family come in and apply the medication. Staff are friendly and appear willing to help. There's an appealing calendar of activities, however from the beginning very little if any was ever followed - particularly exercise and stretching. The excuse was that it's simply the calendar that headquarters puts out but their staff aren't trained to conduct the activities or that people aren't interested in doing them. There used to be an activity coordinator for memory care but that person left after the first few weeks and since then very little gets done. Particularly for the memory care patients this is very difficult as they are simply moved to meals and then rushed back to the rooms to sit by themselves. The whole appeal of Coterie was that people would have something to do throughout the day and a community to live with but this is absolutely not the case or the interest of the leadership or staff that are there. The facility bills itself as a changing menu that is exquisite and caters to the individual needs. However it simply is the same thing every day and the same order every day. The money has not changed once since May. As mentioned above. There were activities listed, however, they rarely were done. When they did have an activity coordinator, she did try to bring in flowers for arranging and tried to take the residents on driving tours of the city. Yet this is all stopped for months since the facility no longer has an activity coordinator and does not appear interested in hiring one. If my loved one was capable of living in my home, I would far rather spend the money to have a live-in nurse. There is just no effort to provide individualized care at this facility. I would not recommend this facility to anybody who was not comfortably mobile and does not have family in the near area that can watch after them.

Response from Coterie Cathedral Hill
December 12, 2022Hello Alex, We set a high standard for delivering quality, and it's concerning to hear about your experience. I have shared your comments with our Senior Vice President and General Manager, who will be personally reaching out to speak further. Please don't hesitate to contact us at customerservice@atriaseniorliving.com should you have future concerns.
Just like most families, I’ve done my fair share of research looking at retirement living options. Their memory care community is truly one of a kind. It looks nothing like your typical nursing facility. Besides the beautiful design that looks like a luxury hotel, they have a 24/7 nursing care trained through Caringkind, they partner with Mayo clinic also. What was unique is that they even have circadian lightning which helps elevate the residents moods AND an on-site urgent care. Inside the memory care neighborhood, they have their own salon, activity room, beautiful dining room with their own kitchen! My mom is extremely high functioning, just like the other residents in the memory care section, they go to excursions, they enjoy live entertainment on-site, fitness classes. Wait until you see the rest of the community. I’m so glad we found Coterie and will continue to recommend it to friends and family.

I have recently toured the community with my 78yr mother. The building is obviously new and luxury senior living is the way the are branding themselves. As you enter in the building you will feel the right off the bat that you have not just entered into any old senior care facility but almost like a 4 season's hotel with top quality equipment staff and care. The rooms are light, bright and airy. Designed well and modern. My mom provided us with nothing but the best and its only in return that we provide her with nothing but the best. I want her to taken care of in the best way possible and have her live the rest of her life fulfill with engagement and quality.. I choose Coterie because we can entrust that best intentions is to ensure my mom is well taken care. They provide programming that are engaging and stimulating and all of the residents there looks happy and welcoming. It's important for us to know our mom will be well cared for.

This community truly feels like living in a luxury condominium with the amenities of a hotel. They have beautifully designed spaces including a rooftop garden, pool, and three options for dining on property (plus valet parking for residents and visitors). They also have genuinely fun/interesting programming and activities throughout the day, and I was able to take part in their lovely happy hour at the bar with a great live pianist playing. I love that you can move in and upgrade your level of care as your needs change and they have independent, unassisted living an option too. Many of the residents who I met there seemed very active as well and all had great compliments to share about the staff. If you are thinking about looking into this community for you or a loved one then it should be at the top of your list!

I work in hospitality and have a mother that will need assisted living in the near future. I have been told about Coterie and am amazed at how GREAT this property is. From the front desk to the restaurant to the rooms, I was deeply impressed! More, I love the interactions that I witnessed with the staff and how much emphasis they place in making sure there is always something for residents to do. Definitely will be touring again when my mother comes out to visit :)
