We have felt that have done a very nice job so far, and when we do get to visit the opening room is quite nice. It seems to be very well kept clean, and when we visit our loved one her room is always in pretty good shape. They do have some activities but given the circumstances they still have not been able to maintain the same level of activities before the pandemic.
Nice people.nice layout.short staffed.smelly 2nd floor a lot of days. If they had more, staff it would be better.didnt realize my dad was very ill till it was almost to late.
Nice people, but too short staffed regarding ratio of staff to residents. Could be cleaner, since it tends to smell like urine on the 2nd floor.
My father has been at The Brunswick at Longstown for over a month now and my mom and I are very pleased with the professionalism and kindness from the directors on down to the staff. It's also a very cozy atmosphere there as well, so it feels homey.
I met with [name removed] on [date removed] When I walked in I was greeted from staff members. While I was waiting, I spoke with multiple residence and they were all very happy. The rooms appear to be small for two but I feel it would work. I like the fact that they have multiple activities throughout the weekend, transportation to doctors appointment ECT . If a room was available I would highly consider.
Brunswick has been remodeled since my last visit a few years ago. Residents will need to use the elevator to move from their room to the floor with dining and activities, but the walk to the elevator is not long and the walk from the elevator to the other services is not far either. The rooms are larger than most with carpeting that is a color and not the normal beige. There are 2 large closets for all moms things. The biggest drawback are the bathrooms. They are small. Not sure mom can maneuver well with a walker. We will need to have her try that out. The bathroom doors open inward making it awkward. They should flip the doors to move outward. They offer to remove the door and place privacy curtain. Mom would not want that. The remodeled dining room is light and cheerful even in the evening. The menu looks better than any I have seen. The dinner menu is lighter but plenty of food. They offer 2 entree choices and have a long list of always available items to choose if the entrees dont appeal. I actually thought I was seeing the lunch menu which is the largest meal when I was looking at the dinner meal. The dinner meal is much more substantial than other places. This is on our list of finalist. If Mom can maneuver the smaller bathroom and can handle move to another floor for meals, etc, this would by favorite. The rooms will allow to bring a lot more of her things and clothes. And they are more cheerful than others.
Brunswick at Longstown is an excellent choice for our Mom.[Removed] is a great caring administrator. We found this place much superior than the older, but still nice, Autumn West. The best thing is a staff that you can trust. Their opinions were in the best interest of our Mother.she is in a semi- private memory care room. Only up to 20 folks in this area of care.
The care at this community is good. The staff is caring and the community is clean. The menu is appealing and they offer healthy variety. They do have activities that are available to the residents who are able to participate. We would recommend this community for the good care that if offered and the good value.
Very friendly staff; helpful. [Removed] are awesome and we loved working with them.
We toured several locations before deciding on this one. The location is just perfect for the family so that we can all visit. Mom is doing fine since moving here as expected it was a big adjustment but she is doing well. She is starting to do some of the activities as best as she can. She likes the residents and the staff. The food started out being very good however they have since lost the main cook and the food is starting to suffer.
This community seemed nice when I visited. The people I met were friendly and the community seemed clean. They did have things on different floors and there was a lot of walking to get to other areas. This layout would not have worked for us.
My Mother in law has been at the dementia center for about 6 weeks. She has adjusted nicely.. The staff has met our needs very well.. We have asked for some comforts for our mother and they were more then happy to see we had those needs. She gets three meals a day and she enjoys eating them , She attendes the activities that are planned daily. Some interest her some do not. Her care is ok and only a few times I had to mention my concern on changing her brief.. In their defence my mother in law does not always tell them she is going to the bath room. I would definitely reccommend the brunswick Dementia unit for your loved one. Thanks for your care.. Being a NA in a dementia is very hard work and i thank then daily for the care they give our mom .
We're very pleased with how things have turned out at Brunswick at Longstown, my loved one is doing very well here! It's a nice looking, clean facility, and the staff is caring and professional. They'll take him to and from doctors appointments, and just do a great job looking after him in general, They also do a great job with the food!
Mom has been there 1month today. They have met our needs as we ask. We r in dementia unit and feel working 10 to 1 is a lot. We wittinessed. The staff being tied up helping reside t shower a d no one with other 7 residents in De antis unit not good however now have two people most days and evening
Very easy to work with. Our mom there for 1 month working with her to adjust Met all our requests tower her needs made changes as necessary. Very please This is a new unit one month old and so they r learning also. Would like to have 2 staff 24/7 but not the case. They work 1/10 as they can have 2. Only a 20 bed unit. our mom enjoys the food and is gaining weight She is adjusting daily. They r learning. Her needs as well as others. Activities getting more into a routine. Routine very important to this type of unit. Thanks
We have had our mom there for a month now. She is adjusting as well as can be and is being cared for great. I have asked for many changes to more accomadate our moms needs. They graciously have made the changes. Placing a grab bar. A toilet to sit higher and several comfort needs for her. Their ratio is 10 -1 however they do have some times two people. They r starting to get a routine which is very important with altheimizers . It is brand new one month old very clean and pretty. Staff learning every ones needs. I go every day but will be backing down as I see her needs are being met. The rest of our family goes every week so there is visitation daily unfortunately our mom never remembers she has visitors but very important to us to know she is being cared for. My advice. Visit frequently even if they don't remember. Ask any questions keep eye on clothing as gets lost sometimes do not take good Jewlery as is lost frequently by client. I highly recommend Brunswick of York dementia unit. Rate financial. $$$ Thanks for careing Brunswick.
Brunswick at Longstown is extremely expensive. I am pleased with the care here though. They seem to have plenty of activities. I saw 3 properties in my area including this one and I liked all of them honestly. Overall the experience has been good.
I just entered my Dad in this facility on May 12th, 2015. I am very pleased with the care he is receiving. My Dad has been diagnosed with dementia and is getting very good care here. He is now going through a difficult time with grieving for my Mother who passed in late 2013. The people here are very patient with him and are trying to get him through this period of grief. They are trying to get him engaged in the activities and they are guiding him to events and encouraging him to participate. I reviewed two other facilities and decided this one was best for my Dad's needs. My Sister and Brother also have been to visit our Dad and they are also pleased with the facility.
Overall It's a good place. My mother has been there since April 15th. She pretty much cares for herself. They are pretty much letting her on her own. They do check on her though. The socialization is great. She is meeting new people. The only complaint we have is the food. The food is not hot and it's over cooked. The food is not great. Overall I'm happy with the place. I feel she's safe and i'm satisfied.
The community and staff are very supportive. They provide not only clean and safe environment but offer socialization opportunities and activities.
