We toured Brookdale West and it seemed to be an older building that was a little more run down than some others that we saw. We decided against this facility because everything she needed to get to was in a separate building and we wanted to keep it simple for her.
The food is nasty. I would say don't move here. It is a pretty community. It's not worth my your time or value. There is no help to help fix the air conditioning. The maintenance team is very poor. I've been trying to get enrolled in additional services, and the person that runs it hasn't done anything.
Excellent tour... [name removed] was very nice, helpful & showed us the usurious configurations of apartments available. We also discussed amenities & the activities available.
I toured this community and it was very nice. The tour was very good, they shared lots of information, and the staff giving the tour was nice.
We liked this community. The staff was very friendly and they gave us a lot of great information. They also did a great job protecting their residence during our tour.
I looked at 2 other facilities and chose Brookdale West University because of the value for the money as well as I liked the apartment sizes, they are very adequate for what I need. It has been a good experience so far and I would recommend.
I chose Brookdale because of the location, I wanted to be near the medical center and my church. I also liked the people that I interacted with on my tour. It was the best value for the money as well. I have a 2 bedroom apartment and it is great size for me. They have gone above and beyond with things such as the hurricanes, the ice storms, getting our shots, etc. They have been very accommodating and I would recommend them.
This isn't worth the investment according to my loved one. My loved one didn't receive the care and attention that the community promised. There was a time that my loved one had fallen, and the community didn't call the paramedics before I got to the community.
My scores are based off of COVID. We chose Brookdale West because of the convenience to family, the ability to get around town, etc. The apartment sizes here are fine for my wife and I. The best part about the community so far has been the security. I would recommend to others looking.
I would want others to know that all the advisories they give are false. They food is not what they say it is going to be and they do not do what they say they are going to do. I would not move my dog into this place. The equipment in the bathrooms to pull if something goes wrong, I accidentally pulled it and ran to tell them it was an accident and it turns out it was not even hooked up which I find very alarming. I even left things on the floor purposefully to see if they had come in to clean and they did not. I have nothing good to say about this facility.
Even though that don't have a memory care or Alzheimer's component, they are such a wonderful and caring place. The personalized living caregivers are incredible and outstanding. The care, the staff, and the security all love my mother. I really do love them and they have all been so good to my mother. The food is really good and they offer a variety to choose from. I would definitely recommend this community to anyone who was looking.
From the first day I visited Brookdale, I was very impressed with the cleanliness and friendliness of all the people I met. My daughter and I were instantly excited about my moving here. The staff is wonderful, the restaurant is exceptional clean, the food is wonderful and the service is outstanding. Anything you ask like for instance, laundry, housekeeper, and help in putting drapes up, and anything you need.. security is great too. I am very happy here I’ve found my home. [name removed]
The facility is similar to [removed] but about half the size. The garden courtyards were lush and well kept. The pool was sparklingly clean. The apartments were older but they were updating them. Updated apartments had granite kitchen counters, beautiful new cabinets, new appliances and wooden shelves in closets. Monthly fees increased by $300 per month for an updated unit. There were several different floor pans for a 2 bedroom unit, each having something different. Abundant washer/dryer areas are located on the floors and a few units had a w/d or hook-ups for one. Location was ideal for nearby shopping and restaurants. Dining room was nice as well as Bistro. Independent only units but resources are available should the need arise.
just moved in. All is great.
Love it! They have so many fun and enjoyable events. The property is well maintained. I visit my aunt and uncle often and have lunch with them either in the dining hall or their apartment. The office staff if always helpful and very sweet. They often have events during the day my Aunt loves. The chief makes delicious food not at all what I expected for a senior living community. I enjoy visiting my Aunt and baking together.
My mom moved into the Brookdale West University in July after two strokes. We picked it primarily because of it's very convenient location, but have been so pleased with every aspect of my mom's situation there. Each section of apartments is built around a lovely courtyard. There is a great pool, exercise room, and community room. The food is great and there are lots of opportunities to make friends. We particularly like that therapy services (physical, occupational, and speech) are located on the property and that a nurse comes to visit my mom on a weekly basis. Residents can be as involved (or not involved!) in the community as they like. For us, it's been the perfect bridge between completely independent living and assisted living or skilled nursing.
I feel that Brookdale has been a good fit for my loved one so far. The community is not a new as some others I know of, but it is still very nice and well-maintained. I like that it is a pretty large community, so there are plenty of opportunities for my loved one to socialize if she wishes. The main reason we chose Brookdale was it's location. I like that it is very convenient to get to, and I would recommend this community to other families.
I chose Brookdale West University because I wanted to be close to my job. Overall, I feel it has been a good experience, but I do feel there are some areas that could use improvement. I feel that that the food could be better, as sometimes, the meals are not so good. I also was hoping to find a place with more immediate medical help. There is an alarm system and a nurse on call, but I was hoping for more. I'm also not sure if the community has lifesaving equipment such as defibrillators or if the staff is trained to use them. I really do like the apartment they offered me. it's two one bedrooms joined together to make a two bedroom apartment. Overall, I feel that Brookdale is a good community, and I do appreciate its convenience.
We toured Brookdale while looking for options for my in-laws. Overall, I found it to be a very nice community, but I was worried by father-in-law would get lost there. I found the community set up confusing. I also felt that it was very expensive. We decided to find a satisfactory alternative instead.
Roaches! They are everywhere. My mothers places is infested. Complaining does no good. They don't care. Avoid this place at all cost. Do not let the pictures [Removed] you. This is an old run apartment complex. Many problems!!!!!
