One deciding factor for us not staying is that I didn't feel the most comfortable with the coordinator that would be assisting my dad. Another is that I felt the campus was a bit too large for him at this point of his life. He needed a community that was able to visualize him regularly. The ultimate determinate, was we did not feel led in our spirits to go. On a good note, [name removed] was fabulous!!! It was a nice community, but just not going to be the best fit for our loved one,

Reason for #5 being lower is that evening meals are in Bldg 6 ONLY. I LIVE IN BLDG 2 AND that is a far walk for people with walking problems, which I have. As well as many others I've discussed with. Wish you could tell them this as they aren't listening to us. Even if they limited to take out only in bldg 4 that would help! Sorry, forgot #4. Rate 3 only bc of above walk.

The staff has bent over backwards to help my loved one and we appreciate them so much. They are very communicative and the staff is friendly. The elevator is always broken, so walking up three floors occasionally is not fun.

The staff members at Brookdale Memorial are very friendly they get 6 stars out of 5. We have had a few meals there and overall the are really good - we understand it is hard to please everyone especially coming out of covid but sometimes the meals get a little repetitive. They do have plenty of activities for the residents and the staff members do a good job encouraging the residents to get involved. Based on our experience we would recommend this community to other families.

This community was the nicest, most caring, and friendly of all the communities I toured. My loved one raves about the food. There are three meals a day served to the residents and there are choices for the residents to choose from. The staff are good at communicating with the family and are responsive in answering our questions. There are some musical performances, arts and crafts, exercise programs, and more as some of the activities offered to the residents to participate in.

Our family had an in person tour with Brookdale and we absolutely loved everything about it. The staff were phenomenal and so lovely to speak with and the food was just exquisite. However at the time we needed our loved one to be in a place where they could get adequate care and unfortunately this was not the place
The staff at Brookdale Memorial City have been very easy to work with.

This Brookdale we marked off of our list pretty quickly. The building itself is a lot older and with how much my loved one likes to walk it just did not feel as secure. It is the cheapest we looked at, it seems government assisted as far as the clientele. The property is large and repetitive and my loved one has a little bit of memory loss so we felt the model would be too confused for her. The apartments also did not have washers and dryers inside of the unit, at least the one that we saw.
I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The cost for the value and what we are getting and the community overall is very clean is great to know about. The staff are very friendly. They are easy to get ahold of if we have questions or concerns about our loved one. The food is good; however, it is the same options every week. It would be nice to have more variety of food for the residents. There are three meals severed a day. Exercise, art, games, happy hour parties, and more are some of the activities for the residents to participate in. I am very happy with the community and love that my loved one is loving their experience here.

The units and the lay out was a lot like the community that I went with. I was just not as comfortable at this community when I went through.
Response from Brookdale Memorial City
March 16, 2022Thank you for taking the time to visit and share your feedback.
This is a good place to live at for senior living and people that need more assistance. Everyone here needs some sort of assistance getting around. It is nice, the food is not the greatest. The advertisement is kind of false. It states that the meals are included but on the weekend there are only 2 meals the other residents are a little older so its hard for me to find things in common . I plan to move soon.

There are a lot of activities at this community and they bring the people together. The food is great and everyone is very friendly. We really like it here at this community. They have activities like work out classes, painting, sewing, water aerobics, movies, line dancing and more for the residents to do to stay busy. They also have puzzles for your brain called flex your brain and more.
So far things have been great at this community. I would say to check it out it has been a really good place for my loved one.

This community is very clean, the staff are super friendly and just overall excellent. The food is basically good, every once in awhile it is just not quite right and not always something that I am used to but it is hard to please everyone. Overall they do a good job, and there are plenty of activities here for the residents who want to participate in them

Even though our stay was short and we weren't able to take advantage of a lot of the things offered, this was a great community for us. There are a lot of meal choices for the residents to choose from. I wish this was closer to where my loved one is now.

Due to the covid restrictions and the time our loved one moved in she has not really been able to experience the dining service and really the activities. However the value for cost is about average and the staff members have continued to be very friendly and welcoming.
