Barber Station Senior Living provides compassionate assisted living and memory care services to seniors in Boise, Idaho. Opened in 2019, Barber Station Senior Living combines modern amenities with beautiful natural surroundings. The community is built along the Boise River next to an expansive green space. Scenic foothills moving into tall grasses, aspen trees, and groomed walking paths make this area uniquely pleasant. And as a growing cultural center, Boise has plenty of shopping and dining options and excellent public libraries.
In this 80-bed community, all residents receive their own private room, and all assisted living rooms come with a private bathroom and a kitchenette. The large windows let in lots of natural light and allow residents to enjoy the picturesque setting. While the goal of the assisted living wing is to provide residents with just as much help as they need to remain independent, every unit has an emergency pendant, and on-call nurses are available 24/7 to assist with any medical emergencies. For daily needs, kind and professional caregivers can help with dressing, bathing, and medication reminders. Caregivers who specialize in helping seniors with memory loss offer residents a sense of security and belonging as they engage them in activities designed...

We toured Barber Station Senior Living during our search for an Assisted Living facility for our loved one. This facility was really nice! It's a newer facility and kind of like a very large hotel. However, it was too far from home for us.
My experience with Barber Station is absolutely wonderful. Great service great help and the facility is fabulous. White halls, grand piano in the lobby, [name removed], the person I am caring for. Has her very special artwork hanging in the building. It's a pleasure to be there I look forward to visiting her several times a week or more. Of all the places that I've seen this is by far the most superior and I would be happy to be a resident there.
Their memory care unit is new. It's a very nice facility and some of the staff are just outstanding. The big open space is ideal for the residents to gather, they eat family style, do group exercises. It is clear the residents are well cared for and content. We had a pretty rough start though. They did not have a formal orientation process, no binder, no checklist, no understanding of what dad was permitted, or not permitted, to have, how laundry service worked, no who to call when... The director has worked with me, and I hope listened regarding making the admissions process much smoother. He is very approachable. I have also communicated with him about the food choices and quality and have noticed improvement.

It's a lovely community. The food is not good and there aren't any healthy options. Overall, I would recommend to other families.

The staff is very friendly and attentive to the needs of Mom. They are in the process of getting completely staffed. The meals are good and nutritious; however, Mom complains about choices. Activities are good during the day, however no activities during evening hours. Between the staff and residents everyone has a caring attitude. It's nice to have your loved one in that type of atmosphere.

Veranda at Barber Station was a new facility, and it looked really nice. Everything we saw was all good. It was just kind of far out from my location. And the price was a little on the spendy side. But we really liked it, and it was probably our second choice.
The community has had some major issues with turnover and they have had a complete turnover of staff within the last few months. The facility is beautiful and the outdoor area is nice and there are nice walking areas. The meals were good and they have variety. I would recommend this community to others if the staffing issue is resolved.

The activities are great, they have the residents all wear masks so they are still being safe. They have exercise classes and on every Tuesday they have a show in tell that features one residents. Our loved one was up one day, and he used to write short stories and poems and one of the staff members would read it to the other residents where they could ask him questions. We thought this was very unique and a good way for the residents to get to know each other better.

If you had an elderly person, that is able to take care of themselves, it will be a good community. I wish the communication would have been better between the staff and me, regarding my loved one. During the stay the community went through two administrators. The second administrator only talked about the billing after the passing of my loved one, and didn't give condolences.

After a truly troubling experience with another assisted living facility I took a recommendation to check out Veranda at Barber Station and what a difference! The staff is singularly chosen for their heart, skills and caring and they are all about their residents. The location is ideal along the greenbelt in the very up-and-coming Warm Springs area and only several blocks to Marianne Williams Park. Each apartment is beautiful and the whole place is brand new. From the homemade meals that use fresh veggies and herbs served at linen covered tables, to activities that are designed to keep us learning and living, not keep us busy, the only thing I would change about Veranda is the time it took for me to find it!

A Place for Mom has scored Barber Station Senior Living 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
