Tour experience
Out of the many facilities that we toured, we liked Aston Gardens the most. It was a lovely place and we liked the apartments and layout a lot. The only downfall is the buildings are separate, so in order to get to meals and such you have yo walk outside or get a golf cart to go to and from. The facility itself was very clean and all of the people we met with were so friendly.

Nice Community but food needs to improve
We picked this community, because my loved one picked it. The food needs to improve-, and they are often short on the kitchen staff. My loved one has been there a short period of time. My loved one likes the community, and has met new people.

A Very Nice Place to Live and To Make Friends
This is a great and wonderful place. They are very safe. There are lots of activities to keep the residents engaged. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The staff communication is wonderful when the family has questions or concerns. There are two meals a day provided. There is a continental breakfast, and then the resident will choose lunch or dinner on which they would prefer.

I would recommend this great community
Aston Gardens was a great facility but unfortunately our loved ones could not stay as long as what we had wanted, but given the experience we had we want to move in there. The community is very clean, and the staff members were just great. Everybody was so happy and you could see they enjoyed being there. We had a few meals ourselves and it was great and the potential for activities and engagement was great.

Great Staff, Good Environment
I'm impressed with the staff overall. They have had staff that has been there for years with no turnover. My loved one is walking sometimes on their own, and this has been a big change for them. I can't say enough good about our experience with Aston Gardens! The staff communication is good with the family. I wish they would be able to email, like they call. There is physical therapy available for the residents as well on site.

My tour review
This community was like the Ritz Carlton and we knew that this would be out of my loved ones budget. You also have to go outside to get to the clubhouse and that would have not worked for my loved one. We had a very informative tour we just knew that the community would not work.

Great fit, mom is super happy
We chose Aston Gardens at Tampa Bay because I liked that they felt more like a community and less institutional. She is in a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment and it is plenty big, the 2 bedrooms are huge. They are super friendly, accommodating, and easy to work with. I would 100% recommend to others.

For The Future
The community makes my life so enjoyable and comforting. It allows me to focus on me. Some of the activities available are card games, Tai Chi, exercise classes, yoga classes, art classes, local trips to museums and stores weekly, and more for the residents to choose from. There are car services to doctor appointments within 15 miles of the community.

Our experience
Aston Gardens is a great place, there is a lot of greenery surrounding the community, they have walk ways that are covered and uncovered. They have a nice warm pool, the people are fantastic both the residents and staff members. The meals come in large portions with a huge variety, for every meal you can choose between chicken, beef, or fish. Another huge plus is this community is pet friendly.

Unacceptable Living Conditions in Independent Living Apartment
My parents moved into the Independent Living Facility a few years ago. At the time, I could smell what I believed to be mold in the apartment. I asked the representative at the facility if there was mold in the apartment and I was told no. I continued to smell mold but my parents could not. I thought I was just more sensitive to it. In late summer and going into the fall of 2017, I noticed a significant decline in my parents’ health. I asked the assistant executive director to have the apartment tested for mold. She had a company come in and take several samples throughout the apartment. She said she would give us a copy of the report. We never got a copy of the report. Both she and the company representative said that there was no mold in the apartment and the apartment was safe for my parents. Despite repeated requests, they continued to tell us that we did not need the report because the apartment was fine and refused to give it to us. In May 2018, I saw what I believed to be visible mold growing on every wall in the second bedroom of their apartment. I reported the problem to management, but the executive director, assistant executive director, and the manager of the maintenance personnel did not come down to the apartment to investigate the problem. They simply sent one of the maintenance personnel down to bleach the walls and tried to blame my parents for the mold and/or mildew growing in the apartment. I moved my parents out. As I was moving their belongings out, I found that the carpet in the closet in the bedroom was damp and the carpet was stained/discolored around the perimeter of the room. It appeared that there was water coming into the building. When it was clear that the issue was not going to be investigated or remediated properly, I contacted the corporate office. As of this post, despite repeated phone calls to corporate, no one will call back to inform us as to what exactly was growing on the walls and how/if it is going to be properly remediated. I have also found out from employees at the facility that the executive director at the time and the assistant executive director never got the report from the company that came in and tested the apartment back in the fall. Employees also told me at the time that there is another apartment in that building that has mold in it and there is another building at the facility that had mold in the past. I am posting this review because I am concerned about the health and well-being of the other elderly people living at this campus and others who may be considering moving here. I do not recommend moving here or moving your loved ones here.

View from the sidelines
My parents moved into AG nearly 15 years ago and their experience has been consistently wonderful. My father has since passed away and the support we all received from the staff at AG while he was in hospice was way above and beyond the call of duty. My mother has been living on her own since his passing and again the support staff has been outstanding. Of course things have changed a bit across the years but impact on costs and services has been negligible. My parents only complaints have been about lawn services and they have been very minor. I can highly recommend this senior living community and the continuum of care they offer. My parents could not have made a better choice.

Lost its luster
Aston Gardens has a beautiful reception area and the sales pitch is perfected. Once you have a loved one in there, the "promises" start to fade. "CHANGES" the staff says. NO more of this service, less of that service, due to budget issues. The budget seems to be of constant concern as many people have left to live elsewhere. That results in less services and unhappy staff, which means more people leave. It is unfortunate, because this used to be a fantastic facility.

A Place for Mom has scored Aston Gardens at Tampa Bay 8.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
