If you have a family member that is basically fully independent and just needs an apartment with three meals a day provided, this might be a good place for them. But if they need any kind of assistance with dressing, toileting, showering, any memory problems, then definitely not. I was very disappointed with them. They were supposed to come and clean my loved one's room once a week, and they did not. I was there almost every day, and pretty much every day I had to clean something - spilled messes, feces on the floor. She wasn't getting a shower once a week. When I would ask them when her last shower was, nobody knew. The director kept telling me there should be a list on back of her door stating her scheduled shower day and cleaning day. But there never was any list, and I had to keep asking for it. Most of the people were pretty friendly, but I feel like she got zero care. She never even got a call button for help. They kept telling me it was on backorder. She was constantly telling me that the food was awful, and I hardly saw any activities.
I would look elsewhere if possible. They stated that they were going to get the van going to take people on activities to Walmart and that did not happen. They do not have any activities. The nurses are great to work with, I was not very happy working with the administration.
We moved my mother into Ansley Parke at Oakbridge this week. She is safe and receiving the loving care she needs while feeling independent.
Some of the staff have brought COVID into the community. My loved one enjoys the meals here. My loved one enjoys being here, and was really excited to be here. There is bingo, a beauty parlor, and more for the residents to take advantage of.
A small community with a very nice setting. The have assisted living and independent living in the samle building
We chose Brookdale Oakbridge because of the location, it was very convenient. The room sizes here are more than adequate for my mothers needs. I have not eaten here, but she said its hit or miss. The best part about the community so far is the friendliness of the staff members, they relate well to not just the residents, but the family members. They strive to make it feel like a homey environment. I would recommend.
Our loved one was only there for six weeks, and during this time the care that she received was excellent, and we do know they offer a lot of activities. We really liked the smallness of the community, it was a family type of setting. We liked how the rooms were set up and they were very generous with letting us keep some of the furniture they had on the model room. When our love done passed away, we left behind the furniture and other things they gave us, and donated it to the community which is now being used in a respite room.
They do not have enough staff at Brookdale of Oakbridge. They are understaffed to accommodate the residents. My sister thinks the food is not great. Rooms size and layout are okay. They do not have much outdoor space.
The food is terrible. The room sizes are good. It was the nicest place we had looked at in the area. The staff is good. I am waiting for my wife to join me, she is in the hospital now. I think the unit we have is will be good for a couple.
They have a very friendly staff. They are on the ball. They have done a good job with the virus. The room sizes are small. My mom likes the food. The grounds are beautiful. They could use more seating outdoor. The activities director is great.
Kind caring staff. Meals are very good!
We met with [name removed], the Brookdale Oakbridge Sales Manager, for about an hour. He was very helpful and answered all our questions. I am pleased with the facilities and will keep this on our short list of assisted listing facilities.
Gloomy and sub standard. Room is very small. Resident fell while we were touring, and staff was right there to help him.
Response from Ansley Parke at Oakbridge
April 5, 2019Thank you for taking the time to visit and provide feedback. Our staff is committed to providing the highest-quality service and care and we will share your feedback with our management team.
I would absolutely not recommend Brookdale Oakbridge to other families. On the first morning my loved one was there, she had a terrible fall. She had not been issued an alarm pendent, which resulted in her laying on the floor for over two hours waiting for help. We were told by the staff that they "did not know she was there." They also did not call 911 to take her to the hospital, and they said it was because they did not have her paperwork. Overall, the staff here is questionable, the administration and management never respond to questions, the menus never reflect what is actually served at mealtimes, laundry and housekeeping is not done, and they do not hold monthly community meetings, as they say they do. This is not the place for a loved one.
We were really not overly impressed with this location. The location needs to be updated new paint carpets just everything in general. It does not give off a very good first impression when you walk in the door and see residents just sitting in wheelchairs not doing anything not even talking to each other. The only thing we really liked was they offered a range of options for the rooms.
We toured this community and the staff did not have time to answer the questions we had on the care. We were not able to see what is available for the care of a loved one. We had hoped to see the menu and if they offer activities for the residents. Other families might want to tour this community to see what is available. We did like that the community appeared to be clean.
We had a pleasant tour of this community. Everything went well, and everyone was kind. The community was clean, and from what I saw everything was well-kept. The staff was kind, and friendly. Our questions were answered. It was nice experience, and our tour went well.
Most staff are friendly and work very hard, especially since they have become more and more overworked due to the continued reducing of staff over the past several months. It is my understanding they are selling to another company. Hopefully things will improve. My parent has lived here for 14 months. We continue to have issues with the weekday nurse ordering medication in a timely manner, dispersing medication correctly to Resident Assistants, etc. Thankfully, my parent does not have life and death issues with medication at this point in time. It is roller coaster ride, and a family member has to always be monitoring and checking up on this aspect of her care along with her oxygen management (yes there were many issues with this, however currently it is going ok). Most activities on the the calendar NEVER happen. It looks great, however even when there has been a director of activities, most don't happen. Meals are fair and the posted menu for the day, often is not what is offered. What you see is not necessarily what you get. Today, residents received a letter stating that medications would no longer be dispersed to them at their apartment. They will need to come to a common area on the first floor beginning Feb. 20, to receive medication. Since residents pay extra for this assistance, and this is not what was agreed to, it goes to show management's lack of care and concern for residents. Many have different forms of dementia, have difficulty getting around, etc. It would seem that this could pose a greater risk for medication errors during disbursement. This is a very poor plan in my judgement. Again, managers seem nice to your face, however there is a lack of true management skills and common sense. Unfortunately for my loved one, there is dementia and the recent changes has been confusing. This new issue will have to be resolved. A few months ago they changed meal time for everyone. Now there is an assigned time to go eat, again because they have reduced the amount of staff. My family member is confused and still goes down at the old time and will just sit and wait for 45 minutes doing nothing, until they take a meal order. Good luck finding the best placement for your loved one. I know that budget and proximity to other family are always a concern. Regardless of where you place your loved one, be their advocate. Drop in often and check on the important items for your loved one.
My mom moved over to Oakbridge from a rehabilitation center. My mom loves I t here. Everyone is very helpful. We have had a very smooth transition. I recommend here go everyone. I also recommend you research ever where you look ask to see the contract before you sign so you can take your time and read every page and ask question. If the don't want to allow you to see contract walk away. When I looked here I asked tons of questions and called back to ask even more. We really do recommend Oakbridge
