Assisted living communities offer supervision, healthcare, and social opportunities to persons around 65 years of age or older. Assisted living communities usually offer chances for organized activity, assistance with transportation and appointments, and supervision of care. Public assistance is available through 1915(b)(c) MLTC program. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include opening the container and removing a prescribed amount of medication, staff may take previously dispensed, properly labeled containers from where they are stored and bringing them to the resident, and reading the label. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 1. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include assistance with activities of daily living , assistance with self-administration of medications, nursing services, and personal care services. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include the community must provide therapeutic diets as ordered by the resident’s health care provider for residents who require special diets, meals must be adapted to residents physical abilities , meals must be adapted to residents’ food habits, and meals must be adapted to residents preferences.
