Common Areas

Common areas reflect the highest quality of modern design and are planned to provide accessibility to all residents. Our resort-like community is complete with several socializing and leisure areas for everyone and their guests to enjoy. Kick back in our sun room for a bit and enjoy some cocktails afterwards at our on-site lounge. Catch up with friends in our game room. You will find our grounds manicured to the highest standards, full of colorful flowers and walking paths dotted with glistening fountains. Take a walk to our outside patio garden to relax with a book, or the gardening beds to check on your plants. Sit by our koi pond to reflect, or visit our butterfly garden for some serenity.

Dining Amenities

When it comes to dining, we’ll handle all the cooking. Our residents are provided with three daily meals and snacks in between. Your guests' meals are also on us! We offer restaurant-style dining in our bright and welcoming dining hall, private rooms to celebrate special occasions or entertain visitors, and room service if you’d like some privacy. Meals prepared by a professional chef, and we’ll gladly cater to specific dietary needs such as vegetarian, Kosher, or low/no sodium options.

Activities

Abbey Delray employs a director of activities to make sure all of our residents remain entertained and active, both mentally and physically. Our physical fitness calendar includes low-impact exercise programs such as water aerobics, yoga, chair yoga (for limited-mobility individuals), and ForeverFit-style movement classes. We also offer a healthy living program which teaches best-life practices for cognitive, dietary, and physical health. Our community activities strive to incorporate the various interests of our resident population. We offer art classes, cooking classes, and educational lectures to inspire creativity and stimulate mental well-being, and residents with a green thumb may also join our gardening club. Community service programs are also available to residents, like our intergenerational program, for local youth and seniors to share experiences and life-lessons. We at Abbey Delray believe the joys of human connectivity propagate happy, positive lives for our residents. When it’s time to have fun, there’s plenty here to offer. We host regular social events such as trivia nights, concerts, and even “senior proms!” Do you like parties? Our tropical weather and resort-like grounds make outdoor parties and BBQs a popular activity among our residents. We love to celebrate birthdays and holidays as well. For residents who are reluctant to participate in social or recreational activities, we offer pet therapy as a nurturing alternative. Not all the fun takes place at our community, however – we regularly schedule off-site adventures and excursions for a fun change of pace!

Personal Services

Our lobby has a dedicated concierge available at all hours to attend to the basic and immediate needs of you and your visitors. Personal housekeeping, laundry, and dry-cleaning services are offered as needed, and we provide residents access to transportation services at a reasonable cost. For our more independent residents, public transportation stops right next to our community, and covered parking is available to those who drive. We have a beautician and barber located on-site to provide convenient access to personal grooming services. Our location hosts Catholic and Jewish religious services provided by visiting chaplains, and we also offer a meditation space, so residents can practice or worship in the privacy of our community. Security services are alert and on-watch throughout the day, ensuring the safety of all residents and our property.

Local Area Amenities

Abbey Delray’s locale has everything you could want or need, from shopping centers, tasty dining, lush parks, entertainment venues of all kinds, and so many golf courses! Delray Beach Golf Club is right next door, along with a tennis center, while the sandy beach is just down the street. Wakodahatchee Wetlands and the Morikami Japanese Gardens are nearby for our nature-loving residents. Multiple hotels and resorts are located in our beach community for residents' guests and visitors. Church and spiritual services are offered in our neighborhood, covering a variety of denominations and spiritualities. Delray Medical Center is only a seven-minute drive from our community, and multiple wellness centers are dotted throughout the area. Local fire, police, and EMT services are nearby and ready to respond quickly in case of any emergency.

Medical Care Services

At Abbey Delray, our licensed staff is present and available throughout the day to assist you or your loved one with any time-sensitive needs that may arise. Our skilled and specialized care staff provides assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) to residents in need of such care. We can provide medication administration, and trained staff are able to monitor residents' blood sugar when needed. There is a registered dietician/nutritionist on hand to help all residents with their specific dietary needs. Regular visits from specialized occupational therapists are available to aid improvement, recovery, and maintenance of skills needed for daily living. First-class podiatrists make visits to our community, ensuring residents are comfortable and mobile. Massage therapy is also available, to help with pain management and encourage flexibility. On-site hospice care is provided when needed. In our memory care center, we offer services for individuals with disorientation or lack-of-awareness issues, to ensure they are well-directed and healthy. Since Alzheimer's and dementia can encourage wandering, our community utilizes a locked and secured perimeter to provide a safe environment for our residents. Our caring staff is specially trained in calmly and safely de-escalating any behavioral episodes.

Care Types Offered

Abbey Delray is considered a Retirement Community which provides Memory Care services. These terms are defined as follows:

Retirement Community

Retirement Communities geared towards seniors who are able to live on their own, without daily assistance, and prefer to live among people their age. This usually means residents are self-sufficient and do not require hands-on care. Think of retirement communities as age-restricted (typically 55+) complexes, which provide organized activities, meal services, and transportation.

Memory Care

Memory Care communities — sometimes called Alzheimer’s care or dementia care — provide specialized care for seniors who have Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other forms of memory loss. These communities offer personalized cognitive rehabilitation programs alongside assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). Memory Care usually includes 24-hour supervision and unique design elements, like outdoor gardens and color-coded walls, to help ease anxiety, agitation, and other symptoms of dementia.

  • BUYER BEWARE: They will take all your money and then kick you out!

After an expensive buy-in and apartment upgrade expenses, my parents were kicked out of Abbey Delray when their resources dwindled. They were misled when they were recruited, when they signed the paper work, and about what the policies were. Abbey Delray worked very hard to recruit them with lots of promises of "continuing care" and made specific promises they had no intention of keeping. They way they recruited my parents and guided them through the signing up process should be considered elder abuse. BUYER BEWARE!

  • Poor treatment at Health Center of Abbey Delray

Everything is fine here as long as you are healthy. The facilities are lovely and many people are friendly. But there is a big change when you can no longer live independently and are moved to Abbey’s Health Center. I am the adult child of two parents who died in Abbey Delray’s Health Center: 1. My mother had had surgery and was sent to the on-premises Health Center to recuperate, but she was placed in the Alzheimer's ward, where I found her sitting slumped over, ignored. There were a lot of people sitting slumped over and ignored at the Health Center. 2. After I had her room changed, my mother seemed to be improving, as long as she was getting physical therapy. But that stopped and she was left sitting in a wheelchair. A woman who was in the Health Center for a short recuperation whispered to me that the nurses there do as little as possible. I didn't believe her at the time... 3. Mom got repeated bladder infections, which I’ve been told happens from not being changed properly / enough. This was a chronic problem, and the infections eventually caused serious damage. 4. My father fell and was placed in the Health Center. He was lucky enough to get a nurse who was good, until she got injured. I visited and found him calling and calling to be helped to the bathroom. I asked for help, and a nurse appeared screaming at him. I reported her, and she was disciplined; the next time I visited, his diamond ring had disappeared. 5. From his frequent bladder infections and dehydration, my father was also repeatedly sent to the hospital where he caught the MRSA virus. My parents both died at Abbey’s Health Center, I believe sooner than they should have. While there are some wonderful people there, I give very low grades to Abbey’s Health Center for the above reasons.
