Aldo Esposito
Branch: Army
Rank: Staff Sargeant
War or Conflict: WW II
Years of Service: 2
My father, Sgt. Aldo Esposito, was the left-waist-gunner on a B24 named the "Pittsburg Babe." He was stationed at San Giovanni airfield near Cerignola, Italy. He flew 23 dangerous missions over Nazi Germany & the Ploesti Oil fields in Romania with the 15th Airforce, 455th Bomb Group, 743rd Squadron. He received the Air Medal and Good Conduct medals. He often spoke of his experiences (both good and bad), and always remembered his crew members with fondness. He sadly passed away at 88 years old, but he will always be my hero! Thanks, Dad, for your brave service while such a young man to our great nation.
