Walter was born in Anniston, AL. He was drafted from Anniston, Al and retired in Anniston, Al. He served tours of duty in Tokyo, Japan, Germany, Korea, Viet Nam, and many stateside locations to include Texas, Missouri, Alabama, and Georgia. He was the father of five children and five great grandchildren. He served his country for 27 years and then served as a counselor for disabled veterans. Among his medals was a bronze star with valor. He died January 22, 2014 in Panama City, FL.
