Bruce joined the Air Force in 1965, finished boot camp, supply school, and was sent directly to Vietnam. After returning, he was stationed at Malmstrom AFB, Montana until discharge.

He stayed out about a year, then joined the Navy, was sent to submarine school in Groton, Ct, and was sent to Ford Island, Hawaii upon graduation. He was stationed aboard the USS Kamehameha until his discharge.

He drove a tractor-trailer for about ten years, then decided the military was the way to go, so enlisted in the South Carolina National Guard as a full-time employee. He finally retired with 24 years in 1998.

Since that time he enjoys his classic cars and motorcycles in the mountains of Pennsylvania, where he resides with his wife, Jean, and his two miniature schnauzers, Bubba & Ice, the "Criminals".
