Joined the USAF on March 11, 1955 and retired on April 1, 1981.

During those 26 years he became a Flight Engineer and over a period of 14 years accrued over 4,600 hours of flight time touching down on almost every continent of the free world except Australia. While stateside, he was assigned three times to Eglin Air Force Base, FL. He also had three, family accompanied, overseas assignments to Okinawa (60-63), Italy (68-73), and Philippines (74-76).

From 1960-68 served in two detachments under the command of Harry C (Heinie) Aderholt, vice commander and commander of the famed 1st Air Commando Wing.

After retiring on Apr 1, 1981 he continued his service at Eglin Air Force Base, FL for another 18 years with the DOD Civil Service as an Electronics Technician with the 46th Test Wing.
