Served with the 13th Troop Carrier Squadron in the South Pacific as an air crew chief. Battles and campaigns included Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea, Northern Solomon, Western Pacific. Decorations include Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, Air Medal with OLC, American Defense Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon. After his discharge, Bud and his wife Jeanne settled in the Chicago area and raised two children, Bob and Nancy. He worked as a foreman at Wire Sales Company, and enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, being active in the church, and visiting family back in Philadelphia. Bud & Jeanne moved to Bettendorf, Iowa in 1995 to be close to their granddaughter Chrissie. Both Bud and Jeanne were active in their church and community and well loved by neighbors, friends and extended family. Bud loved to share stories of his Army Air Corps days in the South Pacific, some of which were included in a book entitled The Thirsty 13th by Seth Washburne, son of a pilot in the 13th Troop Carrier Squadron.
