Cpl Pasquale (Pat) Cassetta served in Saipan, Okinawa and China with the 1st Marine Division from 1944-1947. He enlisted at the age of16 by lying to his mother, who spoke little English. He told her to sign the paper because it was a scholarship to the University of South Carolina! He returned to New York after the war to marry his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy, and they had a son and daughter. He now resides in South Carolina with his daughter Jeanne and has been very active in Veterans' causes for many years before suffering some health issues. He is still a proud Marine!
