This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include meals must substantially comply with the recommended dietary allowances of the National Academy of Science s Food and Nutrition Board, The residence must accommodate residents who are unable to eat at planned mealtimes and provide for meal substitution if the resident does not tolerate or like the food provided, they must provide three meals a day, snacks, and and provisions for special diets, and Therapeutic or modified diets must be prepared according to a physician s or dietician s orders.. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as each resident must receive a functional needs assessment completed in writing by a physician or other licensed health care professionall, evaluate residents who have behavioral problems to determine their intensity, duration, and frequency, assessment must provide information about the resident s health status and functional, psychosocial, activity, and dietary needs, and the resident s medical status. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include observing residents while they take the medication, giving injections, and staff may supervise self-administration of medications if a licensed health care professionall determines that a resident is capable of self administration. .
