Assisted Living El Paso, TX

Assisted living facilities provide community living and supervision for seniors who may require assistance with the activities of daily living. The state requires licensing from the Department of Social Services and Community Care Licensing Division. This type of facility is required to have staff available 24 hours a day and have a bath/shower and toilet available to every resident. Food services must meet the recommended dietary allowances provided by the National Academy of Sciences Food and Nutrition Board. Facilities must also comply with residents’ dietary preferences, taking into account cultural and religious backgrounds. In the state of Texas there are a number of licensure terms that apply to what are commonly referred to as “assisted living facilities.”

  • Assisted Living Type A: Community for residents who are able to evacuate the premises unassisted, are able to follow directions under emergency conditions, and do not require routine attendance during nighttime sleeping. These facilities accept residents that need only minimal assistance
  • Assisted Living Type B: Community for residents who do not qualify for a Type A facility, but only if those residents are not permanently bedfast. These facilities accept residents that need more than minimal assistance
  • Assisted Living Type C (Adult Foster Care): 4-bed facilities that meet the minimum standards and rules for enrollment in the DADS Adult Foster Care home program
  • Assisted Living Type E: These facilities are similar to Type A, but are limited to no more than 16 beds
