This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include activities and programs appropriate to residents’ abilities and interests, scheduled transportation for community-based activities, comprehensive nursing care, and executing a minor regimen based upon a nursing diagnosis or as prescribed by a physician, physician’s assistant, chiropractor, dentist, optometrist, podiatrist, or nurse practitioner. Staff must receive education in a number of fields. These include: fire and disaster preparedness, records, resident’s rights, and 40 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
