Assisted living communities offer organized living communities and aid for your loved one who might require a helping hand with everyday activities such as preparing meals or dressing. Assisted living communities usually offer assistance with transit and appointments, aid with the activities of daily life, and supervision of care. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include self-administration of medication if capable. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 2. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as plan of care developed by the community in cooperation with the resident and, if appropriate, their representative and medical examination by a physician prior to admission.
