They are very caring for their patients. They do a good job of checking on them and looking out for them. The administration is top. Meals seemed to be bland and seems cafeteria style.

My loved one is still settling in and there were some glitches in communication and with staffing levels but they are improving. A major move is never easy and takes time to adjust to. But it is worth the effort.

Review for The Ashford of Grove City

Seems to be a good place for someone who is actually willing to use all of the services. The rooms are big from what we've seen and over all, a decent experience. As I would assume with most, once you get done fighting to get services set up (Dr., Psych and PT) everything seems to run well. I think a lot of it has to do with the family member-resident's attitude and verifying reality from perception. Also, as with medical care or any other services for senior dependents, families have to be advocates for their relatives. Also a reminder to be advocates with understanding and determination. Meaning, while the costs appear to be of that level, these facilities are not resorts and things change. Keeping that perspective helps one advocate and stay in front of your family member.

Highly Recommend A Place for Mom

They are doing good with the medication management. They are really nice, when they offer one-on-one care. They could improve on the cleanliness of the room. We picked this community, because it looked the best and the marketing person was outstanding.

Overall Good Community

I would say that, when compared to other facilities, it is above average, but that it is not without its challenges-- frequent turnover of director, employees, etc.; short handed with regard to staff; rise in monthly fee even during the first year.

Generally good experience so far

Overall it has been a good experience so far, but we do wish it was a little cleaner that has been out biggest complaint. The house keeping could use some improvement and consistency. However the staff members have been great to work with, they are very friendly and our loved one is well taken care of. We will even ask them how they are being treated and no complaints at all. We have seen a few of the meals and our loved one seems to be quite happy. They haven't participated in the activities yet but there is plenty offered throughout the week, we have seen things listed on their bulletin board and seen different group activities. Since our loved one is not paying for nursing care, but just a higher form of assisted living care the value is just fine.

Satisfied, welcoming experience

We chose Oakleaf Village because of the location and the familiarity of the area and also mom knew people from her condo complex who were here and had a good experience. The apartment sizes are appropriate for one individual, not too large and not too small. We are really happy with the nursing staff that is here, especially [name removed]. The residents all seem to be very welcoming and staff have been friendly and helpful. Overall we are satisfied and would recommend them.

Overall pleased

We chose The Ashford because it was very clean, everyone was super friendly, and they have a 2 year program where you pay 2 years and then Medicaid takes over. [name removed] the girl who took us around was great. They are having issues finding staff as everyone is. The staff who are there are willing to go the extra mile to make up for it. I would tell others to make sure to tell others un the beginning to be there for your loved one since they are short staffed, It takes a little while for them to get acclimated and know what your loved ones needs are. The administrative staff to are very hands on. They have plenty of activities provided and they love the food. I would recommend them to others looking.

Would Recommend

It was the nicest that I viewed and also the cheapest. It has worked out good. My only issue is when I first signed my loved one up, he signed him up for a haircut monthly and he has yet to get one and its been 2 months. I had to take him to get his haircut outside the facility due to this.

Overall it's an above average place. My initial impressions are good.

I think the biggest issue right now is they are having staffing shortages. My loved one has had problems with getting her room cleaned properly, but they're trying to remedy that. They've had a Covid outbreak as well. But overall things are good. The care is good. She seems to like the food. She also seems to really like the activities. They're just having staffing issues, like everybody else right now.

Initial Impressions of the Ashford

I think there were some initial communication steps we had to get worked out. Some things didn't get done initially. And I think they have some short-staffing issues, especially on weekends,. But I think they're trying, and they're being responsive to my concerns. It's just something you have to pay attention to as the resident or families of residents. Cost is comparable to other places we looked at.

Located in somewhat of a safe community

They say they have delicious meals, however the food is horrible. the portions are small and the quality is bad. We do think the rooms are nice, we would rate that a four out of five. Depending on the individuals health, we would recommend this community to others.

It was a slow start. They had some staffing issues, but things are getting better. They are doing a great job. The care is wonderful. The food is hated and awful according to my loved one. No salt, so it is terrible.
