We've been very happy with the care and services provided at Grossmont Gardens! Our loved one was a little frustrated with the transition into such a different style of living, but now that she is settled in she is really enjoying herself! The staff have all been very friendly, provide good care to their residents, and they're very communicative with families.

We recently moved Mom from an Independent assisted living facility to Elmcroft. Mom is showing early signs of Dementia and maybe Alzheimer and for her safety sake we felt it was time. It is a difficult change for Mom, but the folks at Elmcroft are very sweet and a great help with the transition. We changed our minds on Mom's room several times before the actual move-in and Elmcroft was very accommodating to our requests. Mom is happy with the room we finally selected. Elmcroft also has very nice outdoor areas with plenty of seating. Mom & I spent a lovely evening out in one of the patios for her birthday. It was so nice to be able to enjoy the evening, it felt comfortable and relaxing.

I toured this location when I was looking into care options for my loved one. This was a very nice looking community, and I was impressed by the tour. The person who showed me around was very friendly, and the food they served for lunch was good. However, this was a much more "comprehensive" style community, and would have provided a lot of care that my loved one didn't really need at this point, and the price reflected this, it was much more expensive.

This was a very nice place. The staff are very friendly, and the facility and living areas are attractive and clean looking. For those with more self-sufficient loved ones I'd rate this place a 5, however my Uncle was needing a bit more care. They do provide care here, but in general it seems to cater to a crowd with a lower level of care than what my Uncle needed.

They're making some changes. They're changing how they distribute medication which could cost a little more. They're also changing how people pay but that wont affect us until next year. The care services are great. The activities seem to be great. My mother has Alzheimer's so she doesn't participate but the people who do participate seem to be happy with them. I wasn't thrilled with when we were moving in. Someone was supposed to be helping us. I would email her and call her and I never got a response. Finally we worked around her and found somebody else. She's still working there as far as I know.

Everyone has this idea of one on one care but that's not going to happen when it's one-on-twelve. But the care is very good. There are awesome people there, especially their activities director - she's an angel. They have a lot of stimulating things going on throughout the day. They have a calendar of thins. They don't always follow the calendar but they always have something going on (music, arts and crafts, etc.). You're working with dementia here so you don't really get an opportunity to do planned activities with dementia. They do the best they can and they do have a lot of simulating things. They are always in the same room and interacting with each other.

They weren't bad and they weren't good either. My father was in the nursing care unit and there was a language barrier. For the amount of money paid I did not feel like the level of care matched. The staff were very nice and helpful.

I have no complaints of how things had went during my tour of this community. The staff where on time to our appointment and made sure to answer any questions I had for them in detail. I liked the open floor plan and the variety of menu options as well as activities they had for the resident. The location was easy to access and had nice surroundings. It was just no the right fit for my mother in the end decision.

My loved one was at this community for a short period of time and they have a wonderful staff working there. The activity director was great--lots of fun activities tailored to dementia sufferers, including mini-concerts by professional musicians and dancers. The overall director was also lovely, making all sorts of accommodations for my mother, who is a severe fall risk unaware of her limitations. The director was extremely responsive and caring, always doing her best to make sure my mother was safe and provide the best care possible for her. Unfortunately, as hard as everyone tried, it was just not the right fit for my mom, who needs to be watch constantly. She ended up falling multiple times (luckily without lasting damage). In the end, we decided the community was just too big for her, and we moved her to a much smaller facility with closer supervision.

I was very impressed with the campus, gardens and facilities. Mom was entered at a level 3 out of 4 care and I was given a list of care that would come with the plan, however, after visiting my mother nightly, I have not had my expectations met. In particular, they missed 1 our of two showers promised and are not changing/checking her diaper 3 x a day. When I addressed the nurse, staff and director, I was told "mother" did not deem these needs necessary at the time. Guess What, she is in early dementia and is going to say, "I don't need my diaper changed". The care givers should disregard and simply tell her that "this is what we are doing". The escorts to dinning have ceased and I just hope her monthly cost will come down in light of this.

The caregivers are amazing. Unfortunately there has been a lot of turnover causing daily staff shortages and cutting corners since the new owner took over a few months ago. Promises for improvements have not happened. With the reduced staff there are safety risks , accidents, and an overall lack of cleanliness. I've witnessed residents sliding out of their wheel chairs, fighting with each other and wandering around calling for help that didn't happen in the past. With only three staff members on duty in the common areas, everyone has to wait. Clothes with nametags disappear. Bathing is not happening twice a week as required. Door handles/chairs are sticky, urine stains/smell, brown stains smeared on patio floor, food smeared on chairs from apparent "spills" or where someone got sick which haven't been cleaned up for weeks. Previous ownership had staff working daily to clean and maintain sanitary/safe conditions for residents. Still waiting for conditions to improve.

We toured Grossmont Gardens and it was okay. The facility seemed a bit old and dark. The apartments were small. I think this facility needs a lot of TLC.

Our family had an in person tour and the big issue with this community for us was that the rooms were in separate buildings and the residents would have to go outside to get to the dining, activity area.
