The Oaks of Bensalem facility is a comfortable place to live. Place is clean and people are always friendly. They treat us better compared to other facilities I've been. The common areas are handsomely decorated. I would have no problem sending loved ones here.

They have new stuff everyday to do. All around they are really good, I like them. Compared to where he was this place is a five star amazing place. I am very happy with where he is. It was one of the only affordable ones. There is always somewhere for us to go, there is a little of a smell at certain times.

We chose Allegria at The Oaks because they were very helpful, honest, and upfront about the care that they provided and the cost. They really worked with us in terms of transporting mom from her previous facility to Allegria. They have been excellent with communication especially with us not being able to go in. If I need an update I email them or give them a call and they are great with response time. They do offer shared rooms as well that cuts down on the cost tremendously. The room are very nice and there is privacy inside the shared rooms with a room divider. The residents do not spend a lot of times in their rooms, the majority of the day they are out doing things in the common areas.

My friend moved in after I invited her to a luncheon. She has lived in her home for 60yrs. She can't stop talking about how wonderful it is to live here She likes talking to people. She really likes the food. She has had half the church over for dinner or lunch. She comes down to help make blankets for abused children. I am so happy for her.

My mom has lived here for fourteen years and it has been a blessing. As she has aged, her social life has become more important, and the community here is super supportive. The staff are some of the sweetest people I have ever met and truly seem to love the residents. I think they have a calling to work with the elderly--they speak in glowing terms about them, and feel true empathy. One day, I saw a staff member standing in the hall near the billiard room asking residents if they would like to play a game. She told me the man was shy and hadn't yet participated in any activities, and she was helping him. The residents are also very kind, unfailingly greeting each person they pass in the halls, which are like mini-highways with people of all speeds. Some of the residents volunteer at the front desk, in the library, etc. One of them runs a food co-op and shops for the other residents. The facility is arranged to maximize exercise and opportunities for meeting other people. Every time I go visit I find a new room with some interesting amenity, like a computer lab that offers classes in email or online banking. Losing a loved one or moving from a home into a retirement community naturally brings grief, but no one should be lonely, sad or uncomfortable here for long!

I was very confused and stressed on how to go about finding a great new place for my Dad. I called A Place For Mom and Natalie guided me, gave suggestions and asked great questions. My sister and I then went to look at a few places and we decided the best place was Oaks at Bensalem. The people at Oaks at Bensalem were friendly, helpful and informative. The facility is getting a whole new look and so far it is beautiful! I love walking in and seeing the awesome crystal chandelier hanging in the lobby. I am always greated when I come in to visit. The first few times they asked for ID, which means my Dad will always be safe( now they know me). Lots of fun activities for Dad to do all day and help with some of his daily activities. He said the food is great and he feels like he is dining out every day because he orders what he wants form the menu (3 choices every day). My Dad misses his old home but thanks to Brenda and the staff at Oaks of Bensalem, he is settling in to his new home.

My mother has been here 6 years - there have been some slight issues, but to be expected with ANY facility. Staff has always been very friendly, loving, and kind to her, myself (I had knee surgery last year and those who knew about it always ask how I am doing),and family. I feel the value has been there - just hoping it doesn't go up too high with rates changing as I would love to keep her there... Food is EXCELLENT and I have joined her for a lunch a few times. Henry and staff do a wonderful job. Nursing staff has always been helpful and willing to answer questions... I am grateful we found this place for my mother, and it's only 20 minutes from home!

I recently visited my mother at Sierra Oaks where she has been a resident for about three years. I asked her the only real question I have about her care and that was Do you like it here? My mother responded I love it here. She also said I want to stay here forever. Thank God for Sierra Oaks.

The bad things first I don't like the smell in the hall when I come in I don't like that. It is a older that is atrocious and it's somewhat a bit embarrassing when I bring company along with me from work or something so I hope that they fix that soon. Overall, I have not had any problems with anyone person or you know anything that will prevent me to live my life fully into full extent. I've had a very good time here and enjoy my time that I've had which has only been six months so hopefully I'll get to stay even though you know I work in an environment that is not pertaining to what I where I live And still I still like the quietness and the hellos from the senior citizen so I'm doing really good here I think.

The staff is very friendly. Lots of activities. But they use a broom to clean the carpet because they don’t have a vacuum. The food is repetitive, as in that, they will serve the same vegetables two days in a row. There are no quality meals here. But the staff is great.

The overall feeling of the facility is that it is very institutional and not homey. I'd love to see residents' artwork on the walls, or other things that would brighten up the living space. I understand that carpets are not practical, but there has to be some way to brighten things up. Perhaps a nice color of paint on the walls? Some murals? Music playing? Pictures on the walls depicting things from when residents were children? How about a partnership with some local schools where kids can come read to residents (or vice-versa)?

Our loved one is starting to use more of the facilities and resources this community has to offer and she has been pleasantly surprised. She does state that she is happy, and based on that experience we would recommend Allegria Village to other families.

The food situation has been terrible! Official complaints have been made since January and I still haven't been contacted back. Food is too salty and overcooked. Recently patrons have to serve themselves so they touch all serving spoons (contamination) and the food runs out! If you try to ask for something else you are told the kitchen is closed. We went to the Windows Café to try the food there but we waited in line 30 min. hard on my Mom who uses a walker. The food is better but Mom doesn't see her friends there and needs this aspect badly. The staff is very young and watch rather than work. (The boys anyway. The girls are friendly, kind and caring however that staff was cut down.) On one Sunday brunch day the didn't have coffee and one day we couldn't have soda because all the dispenser were empty. We were told they were down for cleaning. At least they had some juice though they ran out of cranberry. We can't get mom's account credited for inedible meals. Recently mom said the food was a little better but she's still lost 10lbs since moving in December. Evidently the food problem has been lasting a long time. I'm very concerned about it but mom is afraid that if she complains too much repercussions will follow. I feel just terrible!! I like the amount of space in mom's apartment. Everything was cleaned, repainted and carpet cleaned. Even the holes in walls are filled. We got our own housekeeper. There are over 100 hobbies, but mom uses clinic, church, bank and library. I love that she got a used scooter for the price of the new battery ($300). We need to return it when she doesn't need it anymore. The ladies at the desk where you come in can't give you a lot of information on problems.
