The care is good & mom seems comfortable there. The price seems high but is online with similar facilities. We wish we had placed her closer to one of our homes though.

Caring Facility

If your loved one needs the highest level of care, for instance two-person assist, Heritage Point offers the mechanical lifts necessary. They staff are of good quality and attentive. It's an unusual facility. Out of about six different places we've had experience with, I've not seen one set up this way. The community is fragmented into smaller segments of about 18-20 people in each one. So it's a more intimate set-up, which I've found has been a positive thing.

A Good Place for [Name Removed]

My friend is very comfortable at Heritage Point and content. It's a very clean and very nice facility. The only negative thing is the very first time I visited, he was at the dinner table with his food sitting in front of him, and there were staff standing around but no one was encouraging him to eat, unwrapping his silverware, etc. That might have changed - that was just one instance I noticed in the beginning. Overall, I think it's a wonderful place, and I would recommend it. As with any place, I do think that the family needs to visit frequently and check up on things.

Caring Facility

The staff is very kind and caring, which we appreciate very much. The housekeeping does need some improvement. The floors are sticky and need mopping every time I go over there. They have a variety of activities, including quite a few events where families can come in, particularly around the holidays. They also have live music, pet therapy, and board games. I would just like to see a little more going on, and some of the things they have listed I don't see them doing.

Okay Community

Storey Oaks has taken good care of my loved one. This was my only choice, and it has been okay. The front desk staff is good, and the caregiving staff is understaffed. The marketing person that I worked with is no longer there and this was after a short amount of time.

I would recommend

We chose Iris Memory Care because they focus strictly on memory care and I thought that there would be better personalized care. The room sizes are adequate, she was in a suite and it was larger than she needed so she downsized to a private single room. She is never in her room, she is a social butterfly and loves all of the activities that they have to provide, she is even participating in crafts which she has never done before. They always have music going and every time I have gone in they are doing something. I would tell others to not take important personal items when your loved one moves in or keep them to a minimum because they will disappear. They can have things like pictures and things like that to go on the wall, we have not missed any of those items. I would recommend to others looking.

Met our needs

We chose Heritage Point of Tulsa because they were allowing residents to have meals together and sit in a common room during the pandemic. In her room, there was enough room for a bed, dresser, table, and love seat. They do have private and shared rooms available. I would recommend them to others looking.

[name removed] is the Community Relations Director at Heritage Point. What set this facility apart that other facilities didn't mention was their dedicated room for inclement weather. No other facility mentioned this specifically. The tenant rooms seemed small-ish to me (270 sq. ft.). Every 2 hours they perform rounds, which is a plus. They do provide a small refrigerator in the room we were shown. This is a Memory Care facility only, which after discussion with the rest of my family, was decided wasn't quite needed with Dad just yet. Perhaps in the future, but just not at this time.

My brother has been living at Iris of Turtle Creek for almost two months and the staff is making every effort to help him adjust with their compassion, personalized care and creative activities. The facility is small, so it feels more like a group residence...not institutional. I look forward to a post-pandemic time when residents can go on outings and visitors are allowed.

A bit too big...

This is a fairly nice facility. It is very clean and smells incredible! The staff also seemed very friendly and willing to answer our questions. However, one concern we did have was the fact that the facility seemed too big for my loved one to receive the appropriate attention, but other than this, it was very nice!
