Nursing Homes

A nursing home is an establishment that houses two or more seniors who have no personal relation to the administrator. A nursing home facility provides its inhabitants with around-the-clock care administered by registered nurses. These caregivers provide specialized care for seniors who are unable to adequately take care of their needs because of mental or physical conditions, including age.

Nursing homes are a convenient and comfortable care alternative for individuals 65 years and above, however nursing homes will frequently admit individuals 55 and older which is uncommon for other senior care types.A large number of nursing home residents are persons who experience difficulty with hearing and seeing, have incontinence issues, require assistance with daily tasks such as getting dressed, or have a physical or mental disability. The most common mental disease experienced by residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can cloud their and their sense of familiarity, decision making capacities, and memory recall.
