Independent Living

An Independent Living Community permits residents the choice to continue to live an active lifestyle while ensuring their care requirements are fulfilled. Daily needs such as housekeeping and meal planning are accounted for, which permits seniors more opportunities to live active lives as they see fit. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and interests. Typically comprised of a private living space and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies vary between locations, many residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are a number of advantages and expenses to consider when deciding on an independent living community. It is important to determine if these amenities are included in your service plan: transportation, housekeeping, private phone, utilities, field trips, meals, internet access, and initial assessment fee. The benefits and amenities associated with independent living include private rental hall, concierge services, healthcare center, restaurant-style dining hall, golf course, game/TV room, security guards, and community activities.
