Assisted living communities offer social interaction, oversight, and healthcare to persons who are around 65 years of age or older. Assisted living communities commonly offer chances for leisurely activity, supervision of care, and aid with daily activities. These provisions include handing medications to resident, observation, and assistance opening and taking medication. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to guarantee their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as cognitive status review, psychological history, medication review, and functional status assessment. The maximum occupancy is 4 residents per room. There must be one bath or shower for every 8 residents and one toilet for every 8 residents. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 17. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include supervision, assistance with self-administration of medication, activities, and intermittent nursing services.
