We chose Waltonwood Lakeside because it is very conveniently located to us. When we went in we loved the feel, it felt clean, open and everyone was friendly. Very bright and airy atmosphere. Waltonwood is very comparable to another community except for the cost, was much higher than the other communities we looked at and this was the downfall for us.
They need to serve fresh food not food that is spoiled. They need to serve the food not ignore people's requests including simple things like water and coffee. The entire night and weekend shift is unfriendly, and act as though they are being put out with the simplest of tasks. It is not what it is portrayed to be when you sign the contract.

This was a beautiful community. It was too big and more than we wanted to spend.
This was a great community. The care wasn't included in the pricing and the price was a little more than we wanted to spend.
Our family had an in person tour and it is quite expensive but the tour itself and community is very nice. Some of the rooms got to overlook that pond, the staff were all very helpful, nice and very accommodating. Before we left we even got to take home a little bundt cake.

We picked because this community because, they offer different levels of care such as asssited living, independent living, and memory care. I also felt like the facility, and what they offered was among the best. In addition, I have known other families and residents at Waltonwood, who have had a good experience. The staff is very exceptional, considerate and caring. My only suggestion, is that they improve the quality of food. Overall, I would recommend to other families.

Waltonwood Lakeside is a beautiful facility. It looks over the lake and just has a great atmosphere. It is very nice and fancy- but also more expensive than I could afford. The memory care was on the 3rd floor. They did have activities provided, but it seemed that a lot of the residents were wheel-chair bound. I knew someone who lived in the independent living section of the facility and had a great experience. I thought my loved one would do better in a smaller environment. The tour was great, they even gave us a chocolate Bundt cake as we were leaving.
Good community. They didn't have any availability for a one bedroom and that is what we needed.

Our family had an in person tour and it is very aesthetically pleasing to look at, but we just did not get the sense this was the correct place for our loved one
I would refer someone to this community. This place is decent compared to some of the other places we have looked at. The staff are very easy to talk to and friendly. I do feel that they could have more of a variety of activities and outings.

Our family was able to have an in person tour and the Waltonwood Lakeside is a beautiful facility with so many great things available. Our loved one was looking for a community with a pool and Waltonwood had one, but the location was just to far. If the community was closer this would of been the place our parents chose.
Great Tour! Nice place! Would feel comfortable having family here.

I have lived in your community apartments for nine years . I have been extremely extremely disappointed in the type of services that I am offered . Three maintenance man for the entire building just do not do it. . In my first year the air conditioning was not working for almost entire summer, the next year I had a gas leak and they had to replace my whole bedroom wall all taking three months or four months. When it wasn’t happening there I had mice visiting me at my apartment. I also had quite a problem with spiders. The food is just so so ,once in a while they surprise you with a very good meal. The people are indeed very Friendly but have a little bit of a hard time with Honesty!! So please do yourself a favor and Beware and don’t be blown away by the beauty.

Do not trust this place for your loved one. This facility has a revolving door for employees from the aids to the management team. They can not keep good people. They hire unqualified, untrained people at low wages. Some work 16 hour shifts. They promote from within making unqualified aids med techs who should not be dispensing medications or giving any medical advice. My mother fell and they called to tell us per law. They said she was fine. We went right over and found a lump on her head and took her to the hospital only to discover she had a broken rib and in allot of pain. This place will go out of their way to tell you what they think you want to hear or make excuses only to protect their negligence in the care they should be receiving. Meetings with the management team help resolve ongoing issues for about 2 weeks and then it's back to business as usual. Unless you visit your loved one 3 or more times a week, you won't really know what goes on there. The philosophy is to find every way to increase fees or "levels of care" to improve their bottom line with increases every year. Then they do not follow through on the care or services that you are paying allot of money for. They're record keeping is terrible. Several times the care givers had incorrect care instructions after an increase in care was paid for. STAY AWAY!

I just wanted to let you and your staff know that I'm so pleased with the way everyone has been with my Mother [name removed her first week at Waltonwood. All of the staff have been so friendly and helpful. Yesterday was her 84th Birthday. Yesterday the staff came with balloons and a Birthday sign and sang to her it made her day. It's the little touches like this along with the welcoming basket and beautiful blanket that was there for her on her first day of moving into Waltonwood that make everything so special here. Thank you and your staff for a great experience. Looking forward to our continuing care at your community.

My mom was struggling with vascular dementia prior to moving into Waltonwood and was still able to do most activities independently. I explained that she needed to be prompted to do things on her own and needed to have someone walk with her periodically. This never happened. Waltonwood relies heavily on wheelchairs even if the person can still walk. Her functionality rapidly declined to where she could barely stand or walk and they refused to allow her to continue to live there. They sent her to a hospital and a nursing home only to have to go to a different assisted living that turned out to be amazing fortunately. All of this moving around took a huge toll on her. The caregivers were inexperienced. They could not even keep her room clean. She died less than one year after moving to Waltonwood. They oversold and under delivered. Management and the head nurse were non-responsive and rude when they did respond. All while charging us an arm and a leg. However, nothing compared to the cost of my mom's health and life. This place is terrible and a shameless display of what's wrong with "healthcare" in the US. Please never allow anyone you know to move in here.

Be aware that Waltonwoods does not allow the residents to choose what home care, health care they want. They will not allow Henry Ford Home Care or Beaumont in to their facility unless they get Accushield which of course is more money. It is not independent living if the residents cannot choose their health care. This seems to go against the Patient Bill of Rights. It makes me wonder if they receive a kickback for the money that Oakland Home Care provides. This is very upsetting, when you are already upset that your parents were in the hospital and need good continuity of care. I don't think they have the best interest of the patient in mind.
