I think the people and the staff for the most part are very caring. I would say do your due diligence and ask a lot of questions of the department leads, and not just the salesperson, to make sure your loved one will be getting everything you're expecting of them. They also had some additional services I wasn't aware of. They have a rehab program I didn't know about, and the woman who leads it is excellent. I would also recommend asking about the ratio of staff to patients. From an assisited living standpoint, I think they're great. I think if you're needing more than that, they need to step up their services on the memory care side. They need more staffing there. I don't think it's reasonable to have 5-7 residents per staff member. I think it needs to be around 2-3 at most. I think the desire to provide that level of care is there. They just don't have the staff. Again, the people are great. The food looks great, but I haven't been able to try it. They talked about a lot of activities, with an ideal situation of residents out of their rooms 90% of the time, but that just hasn't been the case due to Covid.
All my ratings are based on our experience during the pandemic. They have been very welcoming and helpful for the residents and families. I believe they have oversold the food. The food isn't as good as what was told to us. There were box lunches at one point due to COVID. I'm very happy with the way they are handling any outbreaks of COVID. The community is very friendly. On the first day another resident came over and introduced herself to our loved one. This has been good for our loved one's social atmosphere. This location was close to friends of our loved one and this was a plus for our loved one. They did a great job at vaccinating the residents against COVID. This provided us peace of mind. Pre pandemic they had several activities available for the residents to choose from to participate in. They currently have limited activities for the residents.
The care staff is really nice and does a great job, The community is run like a hotel, it's very clean, modern and, up to date. I would definitely recommend this community to others
We chose The Point community because of the location, it is very close to us which is convenient. The staff members are very friendly and the care that we have been able to see is immediate and pretty good.
Very beautiful facility, all-inclusive, modern, clean and in a great location.
Response from The Point at RockridgeJanuary 8, 2020
Thank YOU! We have new carpets and we are painting … always something new at The Point.
My dad adjusted well to the environment. He went from being isolated at home to being with people who genuinely like and support him. Everyone there is so friendly when we visit. I highly recommend it.
Great amentities, friendly staff.
I couldn't be more satisfied with the complete professionalism, caring, friendliness, attention to detail and overall experience of everyone employed here. My Grandfather, is very happy in his new home and environment. I feel good knowing I can return to New York, and he'll be in the best of Care. Thank you so much for your wonderful organization, " A Place for Mom".
I found [name removed] very warm and wanting me to choose a place where I will be happy. I found the community fresh and lean. She showed me all the community rooms they have available as well as the calendar of events that are available to join if I so choose. I am pleasantly pleased with facility. The residents are warm and welcoming.
It was very impressive. Modern, spacious, with many thoughtful amenities. I wouldn't mind living there myself. Excellent. Also [Removed] was very very good. She knows how to deal with all the customers' concerns and questions in a very empathetic manner.
I' glad we found this community for my uncle he is in the memory care here and Its great. They caregivers are very nice and responsive. The community is really clean and well kept up outside. The food could use a little improvement. There are daily activities for them and they get encouraged to join in like crafts and music also have some church services. The staff communicates with me so well since I'm out of state. I would recommend this place.
I had a good tour of this community. Everyone was very kind and thoughtful. The staff I met was very kind and informative. All my questions were answered, and they were also very knowledgeable. It is a good community, but not the one for us.
The Point at Rockridge has a relatively new memory care unit called "Generations." Call and have the receptionist put you on hold so you can listen to the spiel. It's all a pack of lies. There is no individual program designed for anyone. They herd them around in groups during the daytime and sit them in front of a movie, often one they've seen over and over again, after dinner. There is no spiritual care there, as they claim. The caregivers are underpaid and undertrained. With a few exceptions, they are dismissive, condescending and patronizing. I have personally witnessed how absolutely uninterested in and disrespectful of the residents some of them are. [removed]. My mother has gone days without having a meaningful conversation with anyone working there. The food is unappetizing most of the time and the alternative menu that they supposedly offer never gets produced for the residents. The food is often cold by the time it gets upstairs from the kitchen. Residents are refused seconds. My mother has had caregivers [removed] from her and mentally [removed]. Her laundry has disappeared and not been replaced. The facility director, Kirsten, cares more about the facility's reputation than about the residents. Don't expect any cooperation from her if you have a concern. She's all sweetness and light before you move your loved one in. After they're in, it's a different story. Life seems to be much better in assisted living but forget about omelets made to order, an array of desserts, not to mention Mimosas, in Generations. The residents of Generations are treated like second class citizens in the facility despite the exorbitant fees they are charged. If you do decide to put your loved one there, drop in often, at different times of the day and night. And expect to be extremely vigilant in terms of how they are treated and cared for.
Pleasant local location near transportation. 120 rooms, weekly cleaning, linen changes. Large dining area. Meals plus snacks anytime. Menu varies. 6 weeks Sunday banquet and champagne. Entertainment fair, activities and trips, etc. Mostly friendly people.
This seems to be the best senior care residence in the North Oakland area. The facility and programs are geared to mature audiences and are not "dumb down" for the few with cognitive impairment. Additional care is easy to obtain as needed. Food service is improving (and could use some more improvement) and is the center of the seniors day.
Not a good place mangment does not care about the employee nor the residents. Only cares about money and how many residents they can get to move in high turn over rate. Residents don't get quality care. Would not recommend some residents in the memory care unit are only on this floor because they have know please else to keep them. Most don't have dementia but have behavior issues.
Poorly managed. Understaffed maintenance, drivers, dining room. Good activities. Caregivers not well trained. More interested in appearance than residents.
I feel this is the right place for my mother. She is adjusting and we feel assured she is in the right place.
They keep it very clean. The staffing is where they could use some work, no one is mean, but some of them aren't as outgoing as others. There is a little bit of high turnover. My mother has no complaints about the staff at all, she says they are very nice and talk to her. We had some issues in the beginning, but they have demonstrated the ability, to fix things and respond to the concerns very well. She really enjoys the dining experience. I would recommend The Point at Rockridge, it's beautiful, and it's very scenic, we have a great view.
The General Manager gave us all of the info we needed. Although the point didn't work for us, we now know what questions to ask providers. This was an excellent experienice.
